Sasuke can be considered his "child" since they're both from the same clan and Madara is technically a Uchiha elder and would be responsible for guiding him. (had he stayed good)

Sasuke is his descendant. They're a clan, they're all related. That's why they all have the name uchiha. Child could very well mean descendant.
