It doesn't take rocket science to understand that what Kabuto did in the cave is impossible outside of it. Muki tensei would have to be used in a completely different way which can just be dodged by jumping, seeing as he'd only have ground below itachi's feet to work with.

Why would you bring up that context when clearly, the intention for Kabuto is to capture Sasuke. This is a battle with different intention here, which yet wont proof Izanami or Totsuka benefiting here.
That scan was not the best proof to show anyway considering:
-Kabuto didn't show all his moves during the time.
-Snake Tail shown later, in the manga, that it could always help/tag team in CQC.
-Itachi does not have Sasuke sword to parry like he can with any other tools on him.

@Bold: Which is exactly why Muki Tensei will not be limited. Muki Tensei works by giving life and controlling something that is not alive. Kabuto giving life to the location, can command it to produce it's own spikes.

Muki Tesnei? Can be use to pressure Itachi, forcing him to a corner.
Sound Gen? Yup. Manga already proved Itachi can't break it alone.
White Rage? Of course not, since its outside, which is less effective. Not to mention that I made this match up Edo body in the first place, to make the full effect ineffective lol.. White Rage effected itachi. But due to his Edo body he couldn't feel the full effect, thus can mold chakra properly. White Rage can still be effective, by blocking Itachi eye sight and defying sound. That means Itachi cannot follow the next move as a follow up.
Right, Shikimaru's justu slowly halted, which gave him time to use his jutsu last sec to snap his finger. Kabuto's Senjutsu is much greater and faster effect. Not to mention his Edo can't feel pain to begin with. So using Shikiamru as an example is not helping you counter the Sound Genjutsu
