Jiraiya was the one who hyped him the most. His STUDENT. Of course he'd do that. I just don't see Minato beating Jiraiya.
Minato has his speed and a barrier to suck huge attacks.
His speed can be dealt with.

You should understand that Tsunade knows what is the point of the kunai, and if she's marked she know Minato will be all over her soon. She knows it'll happen thus she'd wait for it to happen. She'd try to strike/poke/grab him in the instant Minato is next to her.
It all comes to hand speed and reactions. While Tsunade has many shots to try again Minato gets killed when Tsunade lays her hand on him.
