[Theory] Jinbei's possible role on the Straw Hat crew

Now I just caught started watching One Piece and I finally made it to the current chapter (btw the anime is dangerously close to the manga) so I'm still somewhat of a noob but here I go.

I think that Jinbei can be the official first mate (second in command if you will) of the crew. If Luffy dies then I think the team should just disband (Much like the Roger Pirates), but if he were just temporarily MIA for whatever reason then I believe Jinbei should be acting captain. While Zoro is very powerful and his loyalty to Luffy is unmatched, he doesn't have what it takes to be a captain imo. I've seen people say Nami should take that role but
1. She's already the Navigator
2. She is MUCH to weak to be a captain of anything, I mean c'mon she's literally the weakest member of the straw hats without question. Nobody wants to follow a weakling, even if she's hot and likeable..being a pirate isn't a kids game.

Jinbei was once second in command and eventual captain of the Sun Pirates, he has the leadership, maturity, wisdom, and most of all strength comparable to the monster trio. And I think it would be great for the whole human-fishman racism aspect of the series. What better way to show that humans and fishman can live in harmony than to have a legendary fishman be the first mate of the future pirate king. I also don't want too many Luffy/Roger comparisons. Roger had a lazy swordsman as his first mate man, no need for Luffy to do the same. So I see it as this

Luffy - Captain
Zoro - Elite swordsman
Nami - Navigator
Ussop - Sniper
Sanji - Cook
Chopper - Doctor
Robin - Archaeologist
Franky - Shipwright
Brook - Musician
Jinbei - First mate

I know the first mate should be the first person to join the captain but that's too predictable imo, I think it would be cool to see Jinbei fill that role.

Anyways what's your opinion?

Jinbei..........................Nope Zoro really showed his that he is the most worthy first mate. Both in Water 7 when Usopp left, and when staring down Kuma. Nobody, but Luffy outranks Zoro in the SHs

That's exactly why I don't Zoro to be considered first mate, I'm not a fan of main characters being compared to legends (like Naruto to Minato or the So6P) It becomes harder to see the character as their own person. But I respect your opinion, mainly because Zoro is my favorite character.

Yeah to be honest I know aren't going to agree, but I think that would more interesting then Oda taking the easy predictable way out by making Zoro first mate.

my opinion is that the straws r too op. and that they really shouldn't be having this tough of a time. look at usopp, he started NW with every plant tool that could be useful. he's like batman. plantman.

I personally believe that all the pre-timeskip warlords would be better as Luffy's top allies.

Crocodile, Jinbei, Hancock, Moria,and Doflamingo (eventually).

Crocodile, Jinbei, and Hancock had been in support with the strawhats to a certain degree

Sanji is a possible candidate...Sanji is the smarter one of the monster trio and is quite strong...His weakness is only women...Ideally Nami is the best candidate, coz everyone listens to her...she may not be strong...but sanji will ensure that not a hair on her body is ever hurt...remember he kicked wadatsumi's ass just because the wind caused by him falling down blew nami and made her fall down...

1. The most fitting for the role is Nami, though if the OP formula was applied the position would most likely go to Zoro, though Nami was the first SH to appear next to Luffy in the manga so who knows
2. If Oda were to choose one it would definitely be one from the east blue Saga

3. All SHs have an insane amount of loyalty towards Luffy, Zoro shows it a lot but so does Usopp for example and everyone else too

If Luffy went mia Zoro would have abig part to play but would fight over many decisions with Luffy and for most things Nami would just "beat them up" and they would kinda reach a democratic decision

Luffy met Zoro 1st so he will always be first mate. If only luffy met jinbei first
