The defensive player of the year is a shoe in for Robert Quinn. The man is a beast. Even though he didn't win the Deacon Jones award [up yours Mathis], he outplays Mathis in the run game by a huge amount. Quinn single handedly beat the Saints and Cardinals with his three sacks a game average between the two. He had another three sack game against Tampa. He leads the best D-line in football for shit sake.

Offensive rookie of the year will most likely be Eddie Lacey, but Zac Stacy makes a better case. Zac only had one snap the first four starts of the 2013 NFL season, and after that he had a 86 yard+ a game average on the ground. He was consistent, and only fumbled once. Not too mention he had virtually no passing game unlike Lacy who has Rodgers and some of the best WRs in the NFL. After an adjustment to the NFL level, he was an every down back whose running help set up Clemens, and Tavon Austin's big plays.

Defensive rookie of the year. I honestly don't know who wins this, but if Alec Ogletree doesn't because he is an OLB in a 4-3 system [means he won't get 10+ sacks a year]....may God help the NFL. The dude is a freaking beast. He broke James Laurinitus' record of most tackles in a season as a rookie, and beat out the veteran for the most this year as well. He had 155 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles. Plus the interception he took back 98 yards, and the 2 deflections he made at the line to set up interceptions by Will Witherspoon and William Hayes. This man is a special player.

Comeback player of the year. Jake Long had a damn good season. Sam Bradford was the only QB that was not sacked in this season up till the third game of the year, and his pass protection was not even that great albeit he was top 16 in the league at pass protection. Jake Long was the 2nd best tackle in run protection according to pro football analysis, which is really special. He is worth every penny St. Louis signed him. Mind you he played against players like Demarcus Ware, Robert Mathis, Aldon Smith [twice a year], John Abraham [twice a year], etc.

Best kicker and punter. Well, Johnny Hekker was an undrafted free agent two years ago. Now he set a record of net punt average yards, and is a 1st team all pro punter. He was a QB in high school and is always viable to throw the ball on a fake punt. The dude is a beast. Now Greg the Leg Zuerlein. God damn does this man have a leg. He can hit 60 yarders like he's mad at it. He had a great make/miss average, coming in at 92.9% which is pretty good.

Robert Quinn? Defensive player of the year? Meh, To me the most deserving player for Defensive player of the year goes to Robert Mathis. I mean sure Quinn has 19 sacks this year but do you know who has more? That's right Robert Mathis, and another thing no one is more deserving of the Deacon Jones award than Robert Mathis. The man has 11 years of experience in the league and shows no wear and tear! He is a threat day in and day out, year in and year out...the man is beast. I would also throw Luke Kuechly's name into the bunch for DPOY before Quinn. Sure Quinn might outplay Mathis in the run game which is a stretch but remember run games is only half of the game...its actually less than that its more like 40% of the game.

As a packer fan i'm partial to Eddie Lacey and it is obvious that Zak Stacy is second but Lacy is #1 here no if ands or Bakas about it. It is impressive that he only touched the ball 1 in 4 starts and still put up those numbers but Lacy went out with a concussion in like week 2 and came back in week 6. While he dominated the run game he nursed a high ankle sprain and i believe he is STILL nursing that sprain...Man's got balls and plays his heart out....on a side note what plays would you classify as (Tavon Austin's big plays) cause i only saw like 2...The man flopped his freshman year and i hope to see more out of him his second season. I would hate to have the Rams look back on him in regret.

Nothing else, I agree 100% with you on the rest of what you said. In my opinion the best thing about your team is Jeff Fischer. That man can make any pile of crap look good. Hope to see him turn that Franchise back into the greatest show on turf in the near future but in the mean time lets take time to admire what he has to work with.......Zak Stacy a struggling Tavon Austin...a hot headed cornerback and a Vacant QB position. Thats not a whole lot to work with, hes got work to do.

The opponents we play against use a lot of running. IE: Seahawks, Carolina, 49ers, Tampa, etc. And somehow Quinn still managed to get 19 sacks and score a very good positive rating in PFA. Zac was battling injuries as well such as concussions and high brusing. Plus the Packers did not play the quality teams the Rams had to. You guys got to play the Bears twice, the Lions twice, and the Vikings. None of those teams are any good against the run, and you played them 6 times in total. The Cardinals, 49ers, and Seahawks are all top 10 defenses.

Tavon did have a great season. He had at least 4 TD's or 60+ yard plays called back from penalties. He was far from a bust. Jeff Fischer is amazing though.

You make a good point with all of them, I haven't really paid close attention to the Rams myself, but I've seen Zac Stacy do his thing. You've convinced me to watch the Rams more closely in the next coming years. Even though they have the toughest division in football today

Looks like my next thread is on Sam Bradford, and how he is in Joe Flacco's tier of QB.
