How did hashi really die?

I saw an interesting theory on this. We know Tsunade's mitotic regeneration is similar to Hashirama's healing powers. Whenever Mitotic Regeneration is used, it shortens the users life. I think it makes sense to say that Hashirama's healing abilities shortened his life span also.

That wouldn't make sense as that would be a huge part of the plot left open. It would show how badly people needed peace back then. If kishi had shown that his hippy 60 style would make a bit more sense.
