Well, technically. The Mugiwara are doing this to mess up Doflamingo's deal with Kaido. Not to help rebecca. (Except maybe not they turned a little to her pity)

Alabasta had Crocodile

Dressrosa is basically a ticking bomb that could fk up the entire world (the marines, revs, 3/4 yonko, ... All involved in a way)

I've notice this too...

But however the dressrosa arc is more like the alabaster outcome if Mr. Crocodile already succeeded.

Doflamingo was already king, while crocodile was at the process.

Doflamingo owned a factory that affected the whole world, while Crocodile owned a casino that didn't harm/benefit anyone.

if anything it's the opposite

in Alabasta the SHs thwarted Crocodile from ascending to the throne and protect the govt of Alabasta

in this one they are more and more aiming to overthrow the regime

Yea.. I noticed that a while back.. One of the reasons this arc fails to attract me that much as the earlier ones. Alabasta was a prototype this one.

You do learn vital informations in the old ones though.

Like in the end Crocodile was looking for Pluto, maybe doflamingo also chose to takeover dressrosa because

Of another ancient weapon blueprint/clue hidden in there.

Yea.. I noticed that a while back.. One of the reasons this arc fails to attract me that much as the earlier ones. Alabasta was a prototype this one.

Everyone who Follow One Piece is bound to realize the similarity of both arc, and also claiming Alabasta arc as "Prototype" for Dresrossa is kinda ignorant, why ? because Alabasta also revealed a lots of important aspect to the series itself, such as Poneglyph,Void Century and Ancient Weapon which is used as one of the roots that foreshadowing the whole story of the Series,

what you failed to noticed is Oda is just reusing one of his Absolute success formula, and you immediately brushed it off as "Prototype" but seriously what you actually wanted to say is Oda is being Repetitive don't you ?
when its actually Oda is trying to tell us tons of information about the "New World" in a fun enjoyable way with full of surprise and intense moment without using stupid prolonged conversation featuring stupid and cheesy logic,

and like the other guy said "It's amazing how these arcs follow what looks to be the same formula, but tell different stories."

Starts off on an Island before Alabasta: Little Garden, and Drum island.
Starts off on an Island before Dressrosa: Punk Hazard
:| That's silly. They travel from island to island. Of course it starts of another island. Jaya>Skypiea, Water 7>Ennies Lobby, Amazon Lilly>Impel Down>Marine Ford. Most arcs have 2 or more island where the plot is evolved and the story is connected.

The two arcs have some similarities but as the story continues in Dressrosa I find more differences than similarities.
They work to help a Princess: Vivi
Alabasta, strawhats agreed to help Vivi, the princes from the start to reach her country and take the throne back.

They work to help a Princess: Rebecca

Dressrosa, they form an alliance to overthrown a shichibukai for their own interest and meddle with a Yonko. The person who personally knows the princess (Luffy) doesn't have any idea that she is a princess and the people who know she is a princess don't even have any idea how she looks. Also, the princes doesn't really care about the throne, she just wants to live free with a beloved person.
Alabasta, the main vilain, Crocodile, tries to take the throne from the rightful ruler and find an ancient weapon. He tries to create a war to overthrown the king. In Dressorosa, Doflamingo wants to avoid war and Luffy just brings it to him.
Mainly, the goals and motives are very different.

In Dressrosa the strawhats went to overthrown and destroy Doflamingo's plans. They do not care about any noble cause (like helping a random girl that turns out to be the princess). It's a fight between pirates for power, fame and position. The fact that Dressrosa has many people who are willing to rebel against the current king suits them, but that was never part of their original plans. Also, Luffy's initiate goal was the mera mera from the moment they stepped into the island.

Largest factor of the plan depends on the abilities of one girl who is specifically viewed as a tool: Sugar

Sugar is important, but not that much. The most important thing for Doflamingo is the factory and the main goal of the strawhats is to destroy it. Not to mention that Sugar was part of DD pirates crew long before they reached Dressrosa. She might be usefull to him but her role is more important than Robin's. Crocodile used Robin just for that, Sugar was important to DD before the factory plan.

Dressorsa might look a little like Alabasta but comparing them just on the basics and failing to see how much Oda evolved not only the crew, the characters, their goals but the way the plot flows in so many ways is just disappointing.

Whom are trying to convince sir? Do you really think you can tell others how to feel about a story? Yes 'reusing' is totally different than being 'repetitive'.

Have a good day/night sir.

And again you failed to understand what am trying to say, never have i never tried to convince you, i mean after all you once said some stupid things in the past such as Gaara rescue Arc = Marineford Arc, nor do i claim that 'reusing' and 'repetitive' is different,

am just trying to comment on your negative gesture(I've been seeing a lot of this from you lately) which is aimed toward the series, which is quite sad because you don't really give much explanation except by saying it fail to attracts you.........

its not like i want to tell you how you should feel about the stories that's completely beyond my jurisdiction, instead i told you how the story actually is without necessarily forcing it through your mouth :)

and also you admit that you're actually wanted to say Oda is being 'repetitive' instead of 'prototype' based on your reply :)

Mission accomplished : She Concedes........

Things are quite similar, but happen in other way.

Nefertari viewed as good people.
Riku viewed as bad people.

in the end both get help by StrawHats. Riku family just had a luck to run on their side coincidentally, thanks to Luffy's interference.

No dear.

I never said you were trying to convince me. I asked you a question. ^^ You may type an essay of what I am failing to see. If it was a factual thing you could correct me by pointing out the panel I missed. But as it's not a fact that I missed here. I made a passing comment at the way formula was used this time and it won't make me like it if it hadn't already.

Now, I don't agree with you and I said why. I don't have to detail line by line. If I have that much time and energy I will find a new manga to read. If it makes you sad you can have a cookie. If you find them negative find two of them. ^^

While most of the literature out there follows one formula or another some people always get tire of them at one point and say so or may at least acknowledge the similarities if they see them. I called it prototype because that's was the word which came to my mind for describing it. You chose to call it 'reusing successful formula'.

prototype (ˈprəʊtəˌtaɪp)
n
2. a person or thing that serves as an example of a type

Nit picking on semantics...

Your post is more directed at me rather than the thread topic. You question my word choice and make it an issue no matter how pointless it is. You bring up something from god knows where from how long ago to comment negatively. Why bring up things said elsewhere without a proper context of exactly what was being compared and how? I don't remember it but I probably compared the stage stories were at the point if I said so. Don't remember, don't care.

You of course are free to find my view on it stupid and disagree ( I don't really care) but was that relevant here? Or you felt you must bring it up to divert the attention to me ? If you plan to reply and expect another reply from me- You would be probably disappointed. If you have something personal to say send a message next time instead of derailing the thread.

Edit: Just to make it clear before anyone else starts wasting their breadth on this post- I wouldn't be reading this manga if I couldn't see the positive sides and admire it for other things not under discussion here. If the things which irritate me will be more than what attracts me I will simply drop it. So yea take that fanboy marketing spirit to another door.
