The Legend of Link &
The Master Sword's Origins:
The Master Sword's Origins:
"...What do you mean Uncle?..."
"...The Legendary Blade... It was said to be forged by the Gods themselves, capable of defying all evil... One man, chosen by the Goddess Hylia herself, was its first wielder... A man full of courage and determination... Half human and half divine being, he was the symbol of hope... Slaying the Demon King Demise himself, the Hero stood firm and served the people for many years to come... But, as time went by, and peace spread throughout the land, another form... A reincarnation of the Demon King, rose from the ashes, declaring himself the Great King of Evil... Born to the Gerudo tribe, his lust for power, doing anything and everything to reach his goals, made him a powerful foe indeed... His name was Ganondorf, and he was the wielder of the Triforce of Power... As destiny had foretold, a new hero would step forward to fight the evil reincarnated, one wielding the Triforce of Courage, and after a long and hard battle, the King of Evil was beaten back by the Blade of Evil's Bane, the legendary Master Sword, formerly known as the Goddess Sword... With the three Triforce pieces of Power, Courage and Wisdom now brought back together, Ganondorf was sealed to the Sacred Realm... Evil would however, not rest for long, and many decades later, the Demon King, Demise, was resurrected to wreck havoc once more. This time, no hero rose to oppose him, and chaos spread across the land once again... It was then, that something unexpected happened..."
"No hero rose to oppose him? How could the land be saved then??"
"Ganondorf, the King of Evil, sealed to the Sacred Realm many years ago, returned, only this time, transformed... Into the evil beast Ganon... As many had predicted however, Ganondorf, now turned into his much more dangerous counterpart Ganon, would not bow to anyone, not even the Demon King he was said to be the reincarnation of... The land was nearly destroyed in the war that followed between them... The Triforce was lost to history, suspected to have been split up into the three pieces of Power, Wisdom and Courage again, and sent to different dimensions... As time passed, and the war was coming to an end, Ganon, the King of Evil, defeated the Demon King Demise and eradicated his whole Demon tribe... But as he did, something unexpected happened... His new demonic form reverted back to his human presence of Ganondorf... And just as the King of Evil was about to claim the land his own, another Hero rose to oppose him, and this time, Ganondorf was slain by the long forgotten blade that was the Master Sword. As peace returned to the land, the Master Sword was brought back to its resting place, in the Pedestal of Time, in the sacred Temple of Time, said to be built by the Gods themselves. The Triforce also returned, and it was sealed off in its inner chambers... For Millenniums to come, the land knew peace, up until that fateful day where a new dark power was lurking in the shadows, only to finally spring forth again... And this my dear Nephew, is where your father's story, our family's story, begins..."
In a dense forest, some miles away from the comfort of the Castle walls and her Kingdom of Hyrule's realm, the Queen, and her newborn daughter were being transported by carriage and horses by at least a dozen guards as they were on their way to a diplomatic meeting with one of the last tribes in their kingdom, not in allegiance to the Queen and the late King's legitimate claim of the throne. However, in the darkness of the peace that had been thriving throughout the land for the past decade, much to the savior of the people, the masked hero's doing, was a dark and powerful presence, and peace was now about to be threatened once again... Amongst the guards, were two boys, brothers, not much older than eight years old, and they were accompanying their father, one of the most respected guards of her royal highness. The convoy of the Queen however, was not too large in size, to avoid gaining much attention, but her presence could be felt as far as the roots of the forest went, and with it, came a band of thieves, murderers and rapists... Even though the land was at peace, not everyone felt bound to the new law set forth by the new Kingdom's establishment, and a hit on the royal convoy itself could mean a lot of profit. Though evil was lurking in the shadows of the forest, something much grander and more powerful was on the rise, something, or someone, that would throw the land in complete chaos once more... But for now, the band of thieves, murderers and rapists, were more than enough of a threat to the Queen and her convoy, and even though the guards alone should have been capable of defending her, the Masked Hero known as Zorro, had not yet gone into retirement... Always ready to assist on his black horse Tornado, the already aged hero would make sure that the final tribe would come to a peaceful agreement, and that the land could finally rest assured... For now...
?: Father, are we there yet?
?: Relax Nexus, we are almost there...
Nexus: But we've been walking for several miles already, my legs are starting to get tired...
?: Why do you always complain like that brother??
Nexus: I'm not complaining Link! I'm just stating something obvious!!
Link: You should just sulk up and be a man about it... Complaining isn't going to get us there faster...
Nexus: I'm not complaining!!-...
?: Halt!!
Link: What is it father??
Being her majesty, the Queen's most trusted guard and the commander of her convoy's ranks, Sahasrahla was always on the alert to any and all possible threats as he stopped in front of the rest.
?: What is it Sahasrahla??
Coming over to him was his trusted friend and lieutenant Agahnim, who was the 2nd guard commander in the royal guard of the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Sahasrahla: There's something lurking in those trees over there...
Agahnim: Are you sure?
Sahasrahla: Have I ever been wrong?
Agahnim: Okay, so what do we do?
Sahasrahla: Tell the Queen not to worry, I'll scout ahead.
Agahnim: Good thinking...
Walking over to the carriage behind them, Agahnim went down to his left knee beside it as he addressed the Queen.
Agahnim: Your royal highness, we seem to have some troubles up ahead, Sahasrahla is checking it out as we speak.
Queen: Could there be some trouble?? Only the Tribe of the Neeato knows we're on our way through this forest...
Agahnim: Don't you worry, I don't think it's something serio-...
Sahasrahla: Guards!! Stand your ground and protect the Queen at any costs, now!!
Agahnim: ?!
As Agahnim was addressing the Queen, Sahasrahla had scouted ahead, only to come running back with several dozen bandits on his tail. From the trees beside the convoy came even more of them rushing out, armed to their teeth with swords, axes and bows. As Sahasrahla ran to the ranks of his guards, the two forces clashed head on as everything were thrown into complete chaos. Hurrying over to his two children, Sahasrahla told them to hide under the wagon as an arrow came flying in, hitting him in the shoulder.
Nexus: Dad!!
Link: ?!
Sahasrahla: It's nothing!
Grabbing a hold onto the arrow, Sahasrahla easily ripped it out as he continued.
Sahasrahla: Don't come out here for anything unless I tell you to, you hear me?!
Nexus: But...
Sahasrahla: No buts!!
Turning around while drawing his sword, Sahasrahla came face to face with another bandit as he quickly dealt with him after exchanging a few rounds. As he did, Agahnim came running over to him.
Agahnim: They're too many, we can't hold them off!!
Sahasrahla: We must! We can't let any harm come to the Queen! Formation!!
Reaching his thumb and his right index finger up to his mouth, Sahasrahla gave out a sound whistling as the other guards knew what this meant and quickly took up position in a circle pattern around the carriage of the Queen. In the middle of the chaos, the two horses supporting the carriage broke free as they ran away as the band of thugs and bandits quickly surrounded the convoy, as if awaiting orders.
Agahnim: What are they up to, why did they stop...
Having raised their shields around the carriage, standing in a circle pattern lock-down, the guards were ready to defend it with their lives as they were outnumbered 3to1. Out from the thick trees in front of them came the leader of the band, as he addressed the convoy, and especially its commander.
Bandit Leader: Sahasrahla, you all have fought brave... But, there is no use in further bloodshed... We're not here for the Queen's life, only for her diamonds and gold... If you could please hand it over, we will let you on your way...
Sahasrahla: ...
Agahnim: Fools!! Did you really think we would just let you have your way like that?! The gold and the diamonds are for the peace negotiation, without it, the Neeato will never agree to join the kingdom peacefully!! The peace will never be secur-...
Bandit Leader: I wasn't talking to you boy, I was talking to Sahasrahla... He is the 1st Guard Commander after all...
Agahnim: Wha-...
Sahasrahla: Let it go Agahnim...
Agahnim: But, we can't?! And how does he know your name?? Do you know who he is??
Bandit Leader: His name is widely spread throughout the kingdom, everyone has heard of the famous Guard General, the Commander of her royal highness's personal security!!
Knowing that he was serious in his claim, Sahasrahla carefully looked over at him, trying to plan out his next move as the group of bandits started laughing while the other guards were on even higher alert, still holding up their shields in front of them, forming an unbreakable circle around the carriage of the Queen, with their swords raised high in the air, ready to parry any and all attempts.
Bandit Leader: I'm not going to wait all day...
Queen: That will be quite enough...
Bandit Leader: Oh... So you decided to speak your mind, your... highness...
Stepping out of the carriage, much to the guards protests, the Queen herself stepped out as she addressed the bandit leader personally.
Queen: A kingdom is nothing without its people... And a kingdom divided will never do any good... For Hyrule to prosper, this treaty will have to go through... I'm sorry, but I can't allow you to take the treasure we possess...
Bandit Leader: So formal... So noble... Yet so young and only just in her early rule... After the King so tragically passed away last month, I suppose you, the Queen, are very desperate trying to fulfill your late husband's final wishes, *Smirk.*
Agahnim: How dare you speak to her royal highness like that you scum!! The King was murdered by the likes of you!!
Almost breaking position, Sahasrahla almost had to hold Agahnim back as he snared at the bandit leader...
Sahasrahla (low voice): Calm down Agahnim, everything in time...
Queen: You are right... I am young... Inexperienced, desperate... This deal has to go through, no matter the stake... I can't give you our treasure, but, in exchange for my guards lives and a secure passage to the peace treaty meeting, you can have me...
Agahnim: What?! What are you-...
Queen: Nothing is more important than the people... Without the people, there won't be a Kingdom to rule... My life is more valuable than the treasure we possess here... You can trade it for more valuable treasure back in the Realm of our Kingdom...
Bandit Leader: Ahahahaha, pathetic!! Why are you willing to risk casting away your life like that so easily your highness? The Realm of our Kingdom?? The Realm of your Kingdom you mean...
Sahasrahla: Your highness, you can't expect us to allow you to make such a sacrifice, we will fight to the end for you, no matter wha-...
Agahnim: He's right, you don't know what they'll do to you or if they keep their promise, we can't let you do this, think about your daughter-...
Queen: I know you would Sahasrahla... That's why I elected you to be my Commander... There's no one I trust more than you two... But, this has to be done, you can't beat their superior number and come out of it alive... Someone will have to look out for my daughter for me...
Forming a smile on her face, the Queen looked to desperate measures to solve the problem at hand.
Bandit Leader: Hmm... Well, you are no use to us dead... If this is what you want, I suppose we could agree on that...
Hearing this, another bandit from his gang came over to him voicing his disagreement in the proposed arrangement.
Bandit: Sir, that would be a mistake, we could simply eradicate them and take both the treasure and the Queen for oursel-...
Bandit Leader: Now that's not a bad option... But, I am a man of honor, I wouldn't want unnecessary bloodshed if I can avoid it...
Queen: ...
Bandit Leader (whispers): As soon as we have the Queen... Kill them all.
Bandit: *Smirk*
Bandit Leader: So what's it going to be dear Queen...?!
Link: We will never let scums like you do this, never, you hear me!!
Having overheard everything that has happened from beneath the wagon, Link had climbed out as he was shouting to the bandit leader.
Sahasrahla: Link! I told you to stay under there!
Bandit Leader: Bwuhahaha! Now who's this kid?
?: A kid who has everything a honorable man should possess...
Bandit Leader: What the?!
Suddenly out of nowhere, a black rider came jumping out from one of the trees with his trusted steed Tornado, armed with a sword, his identity covered by a mask, a completely dark attire with a black cape to go along with it, and a name sung across the land. He was known as Zorro, the savior of the people. Swinging his sword, Zorro knocked the bandit leader off his feet as the other bandits were thrown into chaos.
Bandit: That's-... That's... Zorro?!
Link: Zorro!!
Bandit 2: Hasn't he retired already?!
Guard: Yeah!! Now that Zorro is here, the odds are in our favor!!
Agahnim: Everyone, attack!!
Sahasrahla: Wait! Don't rush ahea-...
Seeing Zorro appearing, the moral of the guards was quickly refueled as the bandits were thrown in chaos. Standing up to his feet again from the earlier blow, the bandit leader quickly gathered his gang again as a raging battle begun between the two forces once more. Due to this however, several of the guards broke their ranks, forcing Sahasrahla to quickly make his move.
Sahasrahla: Your highness, quickly get back into the carriage!! As for you Link, hide beneath it with Nexus now!!
Link: But...
Sahasrahla: Go!
Almost pushing him under, Sahasrahla drew his sword once more as he ordered the men to hold their ranks as long as they could. The black rider, Zorro, was a master swordsman with few equals, and even though he wasn't hired by the Queen or in her service, Zorro had pledged his eternal assistance to her and the people, and was easily able to stand his own ground, despite getting older and being heavily outnumbered. Swinging his sword around, he quickly fended off several bandits as both Link and Nexus were enormously impressed, seeing the Legend himself fighting before them. Cheering from beneath the wagon, the two of them watched as the bandits started to fall, one by one, to Zorro's might.
Bandit Leader: Do you have any idea what you're getting into?! An old man like you should stay retired!!
Zorro: Oh, but I couldn't retire before making sure that the Kingdom would finally become whole and at true peace... In the end, there just has to be someone there to stop the likes of you!
Exchanging several rounds, the two of them seemed to be at a stalemate as several bandits were attacking the guards defending the Queen and her carriage. Seeing this, Agahnim could not resist helping Zorro, as he broke ranks yet again and dragged several other guards with him, exposing the Queen to danger.
Sahasrahla: Agahnim, wait- Ugh!!
Trying to stop him from going out, Sahasrahla's guard was left open as three arrows came flying in, hitting him in the chest simultaneously, causing him to fall to his knees.
Nexus: Dad!!
Rushing over to him with Link right behind him, Nexus quickly grabbed a hold onto him as some other guards came to help, dragging him into their ranks and forming a circle of shields once more as countless other arrows rained down on them.
Link: Father!!
Sahasrahla: Ugh... My sons... be bra-...
Nexus: Dad!!!
Unable to finish his sentence, Sahasrahla succumbed to his wounds, much to the other guards and the Queen's despair. Seeing this, Link grabbed a hold onto his father's sword, as he broke through the ranks and raced for the bandit leader himself. Seeing this, Agahnim, whom was in the middle of a lock-down with three bandits himself, suddenly realized what had happened as he was filled with rage, trying to fend the three bandits off. Just as Link reached the bandit leader, Zorro himself grabbed a hold onto him as he dragged him backwards, just barely avoiding the swing of the bandit leader's sword.
Zorro: Stay back kid, unless you want to die recklessly!!
Keeping Link behind him with his left hand, Zorro efficiently parried all of the bandit leader's strikes at him as he went for the counter attack.
Zorro: You're not bad... That must mean something coming from me, *Smirk.*
Bandit Leader: Hah, were you always this full of yourself?! This will be your final battle... Zorro!
Fiercely swinging his sword at him once more, the two exchanged several more rounds as the bandits started to diminish one by one. Agahnim himself had barely managed to fend off another bandit as he was forced back to the ranks of his fellow guards, as the guards who had rushed out with him previously, had easily fallen to the superior number of the bandits. Seeing this, the bandit leader quickly signaled the other bandits to assist him as some of them surrounded Zorro and Link.
Zorro: Heh, I do hope you've been able to learn how to use that sword of yours kid, as I can't protect you forever...
Link: Hah! I learned from the very best guard there is!! Watch me!
Standing back to back, both Zorro and Link exchanged several rounds with the bandits, as the bandit leader shifted his focus on the carriage.
Bandit Leader: This will all have been for none if we can't steal that treasure! Everybody, attack!!
Leading the rest of the bandits, they finally broke through the ranks of the guards as the carriage was thrown to the side in the process, causing the Queen and her newborn daughter to fall out from it. Seeing this, some of the bandits immediately went for her as Agahnim jumped in front of them with a sword in his hand.
Agahnim: My queen, quick, make a run for it!!
Queen: But...
Agahnim: No time to discuss, you must protect the princess!
Clashing with three of the bandits, Agahnim wasn't able to hold them all off as a sword lashed on to his back, before another pierced his stomach.
Agahnim: Ug-.h..
Queen: Agahnim!!
Guard: They're after the Queen!! Everybody, protect her at once!!
Making a run for it, the Queen ran through the forest with her newborn daughter in hand, as she was being chased down by a at least five or so bandits. Running as fast as she could, the bandits quickly caught up to her as she fell over a large root sticking up from the ground, causing her to lose the baby on the ground not far away from her.
Queen: Zelda!!
Turning around, the Queen saw the bandits right on her tail as Nexus suddenly jumped in between them.
Nexus: Run now, while you still can!!
Queen: I can't, I-...
Nexus: RUN!!
Trying to hold the five bandits off with merely a sword, the power of their combined might flung Nexus through the air, causing him to fall on the ground on the other side of the Queen, just by the baby's side, as his sword flew into a nearby river.
Nexus: Why haven't you run away yet?!
Queen: My ankle, I think it bro-...
Bandit 1: Well, well, well, what do we have here?
Bandit 2: Looks to me like a fresh piece of meat!
Laying his hand on her leg, the bandit was quickly surprised as the Queen lashed her right hand across his face, causing him to fall backwards.
Queen: How dare you! I am the Queen of Hyrule!!
Bandit 3: You have no authority here!
Delivering a punch straight across her face, the Queen fell to the ground again as she looked over at an astonished Nexus, whom had no idea what to do... Looking over at him, the Queen then uttered some words Nexus knew the importance of.
Queen: Take... Zelda... And get out... of here...
Nexus: I...
Queen: Please...
Knowing that her end could be near, a tear formed in her face as she looked over at Nexus, only to get a sword plunged through her chest from behind by one of the bandits.
Queen: Go-...Ug-h..
Bandit 4: Idiot!! What have you done?! You were not suppose to kill her!!
Bandit 2: Does it look like I care much?! She had it coming, she should not have slapped me...
Bandit 5: What is done is done, let's grab that kid and the Queen's only child!
Aiming in on Nexus, the bandits slowing approached him as Nexus rose to his feet and grabbed a hold onto the baby. Slowly backing away from them, Nexus knew he wouldn't get far as he had almost backed away into a great river with strong currents behind him.
Bandit 1: Where are you going to go kid??
Bandit 2: You surely aren't considering going for a swim, are you?? *Smirk.*
Bandit 4: You might as well hand her over...
Nexus: I will never do that, never!!
Bandit 3: Oh you're a brave little one, aren't you...
Bandit 5: Well then, then you will die!!
Raising his sword, the bandit was just about to go in for the kill when Tornado, Zorro's personal ride, came jumping in, causing the five bandits to fall over on their backs, as he reached his front paws up in the air, neighing and stomping at them, forcing them to back off.
Bandit 1: It's just a stupid horse, come on you guys!!
Quickly getting up on their feet again, the bandits prepared themselves to launch at him when Nexus quickly figured out what Tornado intended for him, as he quickly grabbed a hold onto his reins with his right hand, and Zelda, the newborn baby, in his left, as he seated himself on top of him, only to fly high in the air, over the bandits, causing them to topple over again, as Tornado rode off in the direction they came from. Seeing this, the bandits quickly followed, only to be met by several of the guards charging in at them, causing them to scatter amongst the trees in separate directions, only to be hunted down and slain brutally.
Back by the carriage, the final bandits had been dealt with as the bandit leader was all that stood left on the battleground, with the rest of them fleeing with their tails between their legs. Lashing out on Zorro in mad rage, he was quickly overpowered as Zorro knocked his sword out of his hand and up in the air, before catching it in his free hand as it fell towards the ground, and used both swords to scratch two Z's on both sides of his neck.
Bandit Leader: Ugh...
Zorro: Two Z's, one for each law you've broken, to remind you never to hurt the people and its Queen again!
Bandit Leader: This... Is... Not over yet!
Quickly grabbing onto a horse that ran by with another bandit on top of it, the two rode off with only a few bandits remaining as they caught up to them. As the bandit Leader took off, he tossed off some glossary at Zorro, Link, and the remainder of the guards as he disappeared in the shadow of the trees.
Link: *Pant, Pant* Well that was easy...
Zorro: You fought well kid... Alas, I don't think it's all over just yet... I have a bad feeling about all this...
Link: !! Dad?!
Realizing that they had been given a breather, Link, who started to break out in tears, rushed to his father's body as the remaining guards gathered beside Zorro as they discussed what had just went down. Some of them even began to gather the bodies of the fallen guards and bandits, as Tornado, with Nexus and the baby Zelda on top of him, came riding towards them as it stopped by Zorro's side.
Zorro: Easy boy, you did great...
Guard: Where's the Queen, boy?!
Nexus: I...
Slowly climbing down from the horse with the Princess in his hands, Nexus didn't know what to say as the other guards returned from the riverbed with the body of the Queen with them.
Guard: No, it can't...
Zorro: The Queen... I have failed...
Nexus: Are you kidding me, without your help, we would most likely have all died!
Zorro: The day Zorro can't save the people, yet its Queen, is the day Zorro has failed and must retire... You two fought brave, but it is time for me to go.
Reaching onto Tornado's reins, Zorro then mounted him as he was about to ride off. Seeing this, Link rushed over to them as well as he grabbed a hold onto the reins of Tornado.
Link: Wait, why are you leaving?! You can't, someone has to overlook things until the treaty meeting is over!
Nexus: He's right, without our father or Agahnim, we-...
Zorro: Without the Queen, there won't be any treaty plan... You boys should know this...
Link: I...
Zorro: Here, take this...
Reaching for his neck, Zorro took off the necklace that he had on him as he gave it to Link before he continued.
Zorro: The time of Zorro has come to an end... The Kingdom will have to withstand hardship and the consequence of my actions without me... The loss of the Queen will be hard for the kingdom to swallow... I'm afraid my good deeds have lead to nothing else than bad this time around...
Link: But... You can't just go, where would you...
Nexus: It's not your fault! You can't be a coward now!! Not after everything you have done for us, the people, over the past decade! You are Zorro, the symbol of hope!
Zorro: I am but a man, and even I am flawed... Maybe the next Zorro, burns bright in one of you... This is goodbye kids... Let's see if fate has it that we meet again. *Clicks Tongue*
Taking off at great speed, the masked hero known as Zorro, was gone before anyone knew what to say or do...
Nexus: Now what?!
Link: Now... We fight for our kingdom!
