Well I was wondering can't two MS brothers just trade their eyes, I mean an exchange like madara getting izuna's and izuna getting madara's.

I believe the eyes merge. A solution like that would be far too simple for no one to actually try it, instead of a whole clan slaughtering each other.

I honestly don't know how any are confused here. They are swapping MS eyes. Most likely both will attain EMS through this. The eyes don't fuse they just get replaced by a new eye ball with MS. It's what I believe anyway.

I think they killed each other cos' they wanted EMS and did not have brother with MS.

If you are talking about Edo Itachi, it's been proven that edo tensei makes a copy of your powers and abilities.(with exceptions.) Itachi as an edo had a copy sharingan, it was not his original. Sasuke's old eyes are probably gone or may be he kept them for sentimental reasons. But I don't believe he merged itachi's and his together.

No he took his out and put itachi's eyes in. He states it himself, saying" these are your eyes" or something like that.

The eyes dont fuse. If they did, then sasuke wouldn't need to rest and cover his fused eyes. The reason while they still maintain those techniques is because the brain plays a major role in MS techniques.
