I know. I said he could have worded it better. z.z

But, he is a die hard Christian. I don't know why they asked him that though.

Well, what you said and Alpha said are two different things... :|

I don't understand? My mind may be clouded because I don't think MJ like black people(there is alot of proof)

MJ point was that he wouldn't take a side since it could affect sales

if he supported a democrat he may put off republicans

Outrageous.

Anyway, the severity of his words don't matter at all. He was fully expressing his religious opinion to it's utmost extent.

The man wears camouflage and eats craw fish all day...is this really a surprise to people?

Hypocrisy...

So criticizing someone for their region, culture, and dialect Is OK, but having an opinion on gays isn't?

I see this quite a lot; people shaping moral horizons to blend popular opinion and, at the same, fit their own convenience.

Terrible .

It's not even about equality anymore , it's about who's orientation is better . Sad but true . You insult a gay and everyone freaks out . A gay insults you and no one bats an eye .

It was bad PR for the network. A&E may not agree with his views, but he was suspended because it was bad media. Nobody is saying he cannot have his own beliefs, but his beliefs reflect on the show and the network. I don't think any company would want a racist for example. Sure, it's free speech, but it's bad PR. It makes sense to me. Personally, I disagree with his beliefs, but I understand his stance and he has the right to say whatever he wants, but from a business perspective it was a bad move. Maybe they did overreact because he gave a good explanation for his reasoning and he's not a bad person, but it's a sensitive topic to the world. A&E or whoever made the call made a quick call because they had to do something. I can see reasons for it being a bad call and a good call. Anyways, I'm sure and I hope everything will be settled and back to normal later.

It's ridiculous.

The magazine knew the answer to the question, they were bating him if anything. The fact that they suspended him is merely a knee jerk reaction. They always seem like they have to do something.

This probably isn't where this page was heading but I'm gonna take it there.

Christians(predominately Catholics) make a big fuss about gay people living in the same world as them, and these are supposed to be the "turn the other cheek, do unto others" type of people yet they condemn rather than pray for an entire group of human beings. On top of that the Christian faith has significantly strong homosexual vibes within it's own structure. Jesus walked around with a group of 12 men no women for years, the Christian religion for centuries prohibited female participation, Catholic priests are still to this day regularly being found to commit sodomy on young boys, and to top it all King James who created the modern day version of the Bible(King James Version) was a flagrant homosexual himself.

Now whether you believe any of the Christian ideology or not or whether you are homosexual or not is your own business but people need to recognize the hypocrisy on both sides. A vast majority of homosexuals though they say they just want to be accepted to live a normal life are the same ones making everything a national matter, marching and all around flaunting their decision in people's faces trying to make them accept them. I believe based on most of the people who I've heard talk on the matter is that most people do not care so much about their ideals and beliefs on sexuality but are upset and opposed to their attitudes about their sexuality.

Text wall, containing opinion on this.

I dont watch duck dynasty, but i heard that they end each episode in prayer.(and recently he fought to stop the censoring of "In Jesus name we pray" from these prayers by A&E(and won))

So this is OBVIOUSLY and MAJOR overeaction by A&E. The guy who is a CLEARLY a Christian, goes on a interview and is asked about his opinion on lgbt. He answers saying he disagrees with the lifestyle, and considers it a sin like other things, but he still respects and loves all people.

Yet somehow its like this is some major shock. Like nobody saw this comeing. Its like going to a abortion clinic, and asking one of the doctors there do they think its okay to perform abortions. And then being shocked when they say they do think its okay.

I could understand if this was a on air(on their show) sorta thing. But this was done on a completely seperate interview.

Sure his choice of wording was quite poor. But he had no hostile intent. He meant no harm, or anything with his tone.

Its like me saying to my brother "I hate you" while we are laughing together.

People need too get 2 things straight.

1. People have different beliefs and viewpoints and opinions. If you preach tolerance of another viewpoint, you should practice what you teach. If someone wants to be a racist, that is their choice. You dont have to agree, or accept their viewpoint is correct. You just have to respect that they have a different viewpoint, albiet one that most of humanity considers wrong(and rightly so)
2. People need to stop being so damn sensitive.

That guy, wasnt trying to be offensive, and he doesnt do anything like protest homosexuality. He was asked about his opinion on this topic, and he presented it. If he went around on his show bashing gays, or anything like that then maybe i would understand them wanting to remove him. But he doesnt push any agenda, other than perhaps some teachings of Christ. Even then, he isnt very forceful about it. He mostly does it by how he lives.

So the very short answer is A&E are SEVERLY overreacting.

A Openly Christian man, who seems to try to practice what he is taught(not just a only on Sunday Christian), is asked a question, and he answers with a Christian answer, and people freak out, as if he was supposed to give a different answer.

Sure his choice of words(the part that is focused on, instead of the entire statement) was rather poor, but he meant no bad intent. He wasnt saying anything like all homos go to hell. He just said he though homosexuality is a sin just like an abundance of other things, such as *** outside of marriage, **** and oral ***, etc.

He ended his statement(the part people dont want to listen to) Saying he loved people regardless of their faults(or what he considers to be a fault).

Ive been called far more offensive things in my lifetime(and the people MEANT to be offensive) and i havent bat an eye.

People just need to learn to not be so damn sensitive about someone not condoneing their choices/lifestyle/opinion. People have other opinions.

But to answer your question at the end.

But if someone says that he doesn't believe in homosexuality and gets banned from a TV series [quite popular], who is at fault?

Both/neither
If someone says something, they need to own up to their words, regardless whether others agree or disagree.

A&E is quite dumb, for putting him on hiatus(perhaps permanently, over a statement of opinion, in a interview, not associated with the show at all. Not to mention they take a Christian man/family and put them on the air, and seemingly expect them to support all that society does. A&E doesnt seem to understand that a actual Christian, will respond with a Christian answer. Or the fact that he probably spends more time thinking about duck hunting than he does thinking about whether homosexuality is right or wrong.

All that said, A&E does have the right to do this.

Ultimately though, it is the fault of all the hypersensitive people, who get offended by stuff like this, and nitpick the parts they are offended by, rather than listening to the entire statement.(which was not really deragatory. Basically all the guy said was "I think homosexuality is unnatural, and a sin, just like these other things, but I still love all people regardlessly."

Its like a guy named phil confessing to killing a guy named bob, only to be judged and sentenced for life in prison. If the judge had listened to all that phil had said, he wouldve known that bob had tortured phils family, and had a gun at phils head, and was about to kill him. The judge wouldve known it was self defence.

Ultimately, it will be A&E and the fans of duck dynasty who will lose. The guy could care less about being on tv or not. A&E will lose because they wont get any more profits from it, and the fans will lose because they wont get anymore episodes.

In no way does any of this bother me, because im fine with people haveing different viewpoints than me. It is what makes this nation so great.

I personally hold the viewpoint that homosexuality is wrong. I would never dream of forceing anyone to accomodate, or even accept my viewpoint. Nor would I as a Christian judge someone based on that. The only judge who matters is God. If he decides its fine to let homos into heaven, it is His choice.

What you do with your life is your choice. I will tolerate your choice, but I should not be forced to accept it.(nor should you be forced to accept mine) I will still treat you with love dignity and respect, regardless of your choices, and whether I agree with them being right or not. I will still respect your right to your own viewpoints.

I also have no care in the world over duck dynasty(havent watched even a second of it), and just find the situation ironic(a Christian man asked a question over his viewpoint, answers a Christian answer, and everybody is shocked(yeah i know he couldve had a better choice of words))

People just love to overreact though.

OP. I do applaud you wanting to, and trying to keep this a debate/conversation. Many people would just jump to one viewpoint, and call everyone else wrong. Or would just turn the thread into crap.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!! Only 12 more days till 2014!!!!!

Actually I think he said something to the affect that homosexuality is a sin and that it is just as bad as bestiality

He did not say anything about the severity of any of the sins. He just basically listed off some of the other things(sexual related) he considers sins.

He said nothing to the degree"Homosexuality is just as bad as Beastiality"
He saw **** ***, as wrong period, regardless of the genders of the people in it. He saw it wrong as he did with other sexual practices as well. He did not issue any statement saying one is worse or better than another.

Even if he did, he wasnt condemning or hateing anyone. He ended his statement, by saying something to the effect"I love all people anyways, regardless of how they live their life"

He was not deragatory in words, or intent. People are just misinterpreting him, and looking at one little quote, instead of the entire thing he said.

His choice of words was rather poor, but honestly do you expect someone who likes to focus on enjoying the outdoors and stuff, to really spend that much time thinking about his opinion on homosexuality? He has much more important things to think about.

People are just being hypersensitive over this, and are spending to much time listening to inaccurate paraphrases of what he said(or nitpicked quotes), to read what he actually said, in its entirety. Less people would be offended if they read all of what he said.

But I will repeat myself. He really did have a poor choice of words. If he had worded it better, then there would not be as many people getting offended.

Should've been suspended for what he said about Blacks

He didn't say anything derogatory about them; he merely said he didn't see, with his own eyes, the ill-treatment of blacks. In the area he lived in, rural and farmland, the black farmers he's worked with didn't seem mistreated, but that's not to say they were happy/content with their 2nd citizen status.

He even says he related to their economic struggles because he was white trash.
