Alright, first match is underway! =D Hope the title doesn’t give too much away. lol Anyways, enjoy
Here’s my previous chapters, for those who missed any:
Chapter 026: The Uchiha Dominate
Silence befell the entire arena as the two genin – Manako and Arika – stared each other down, both of them eagerly waiting for B to begin the match. Overhead, the other contestants were doing the same, eager to see just what their fellow competitors had to offer them, with most of the attention being centered around Manako. For those from the Leaf village, the question was just how long this Arika would last against him, while for those who hailed from elsewhere, the question was why everyone else thought so highly of his skills.
Z: So, this is the cat they’re all afraid of. …Guess it’s time to see why.
Sakebi: Well, he did make it here last, bro. Can’t be that tough.
Tomoi: Nah, I’m with Z on this one. He’s a Uchiha, so he’s gotta be pretty strong.
Sakebi: (Yeah, of course YOU’RE with Z.) …That’s true, I guess.
Meanwhile, on the other balcony, Yatsuri and his cousins were having a similar conversation, while Gaara and the young team’s sensei stood nearby.
Sabure: So, what do you guys think? Does that girl have much of a chance?
Yatsuri: Hmm, with the things people keep saying about that Manako guy, probably not.
Ryūza: Your thoughts, Grandfather?
Gaara: (Having been carefully Manako until now, he was somewhat put off by his grandson’s intrusion.) …He’s Sasuke Uchiha’s grandson. I can only guess just how much power that fact alone guarantees him to have.
Sabure: (Listening to her grandfather in awe, she looked back at the young Leaf genin with an adventurous smile on her face.) (Is that so? …Hm, I wouldn’t mind fighting him.)
On the opposite end of the balcony, Asuka’s team was also evaluating the two contestants, though it was hardly a group conversation compared to those being held by the others.
Takeshi: This one seems kinda one-sided, doesn’t it, …what with all the things we’re hearing about Manako there?
Amiko: …Yeah, probably. Asuka, what do you think?
Asuka said nothing in response, not even bothering to take his eyes off Manako and acknowledge her question, much to Takeshi’s annoyance.
Takeshi: Y’know, you could at LEAST let Amiko know you heard her, Asuka!
At this, Asuka responded, turning to his teammate with a cold look in his eyes, causing Takeshi’s blood to freeze. When he finally found the nerve to break their eye contact, Asuka returned his gaze to Manako.
Asuka: (So then, …just how powerful are you, Manako Uchiha?)
On the ground floor, B took one last opportunity to look at both contestants before throwing his hand in the air.
B: All right, if both y’all are ready, …begin!
No sooner after B’s hand fell did Manako vanish beneath a cloud of smoke, much to the surprise of nearly every shinobi in the room, including his opponent.
Arika: What the-?
Not even a second later, a kunai emerged from the cloud, heading straight for the young kunoichi. She quickly deflected it with one of her own, doing the same with the second and the third, this pattern of recurring attacks quickly boosting her confidence.
Arika: (Hnh, if this is all he’s got goin’ for him, then he’s-)
Before Arika could even finish her thought, Manako dashed out from beneath the cloud of smoke, his speed catching almost everyone off guard.
Arika: Huh!?
Before she even had time to react, Manako’s fist connected with her stomach, knocking her unconscious. Straightening his posture, Manako allowed her to fall to the floor, and when she didn’t get up, B made the result official.
B: And the winner is…Manako Uchiha!
The match lasting only a few seconds in total, the speed of Manako’s victory caught virtually everyone watching by surprise, especially those who didn’t know him previously.
Sakebi: Whoa, …just like that?
Tomoi: Man, this guy’s fast! …Z, you don’t think…?
Z: (He resolved Tomoi’s worries with a mere shake of his head.) Not that fast, …but the cat definitely knows how to pounce.
On the other balcony, Manako had already returned to his cousins’ sides as Arika was carried away by two medical-nin, only to quickly be approached by Airon, whose group was standing just meters away.
Airon: Six seconds. …I expected more from you, Manako.
Manako: (He shook his head in amusement as a reluctant smirk surfaced on his face.) We can’t all be as fast as you, Airon.
Airon: (He chuckled softly to himself as he leaned against the railing beside Manako.) Hmhmhmhm, I suppose not.
B: All right then, let’s get this second match up and runnin’!
All ongoing conversations ceased as the large, black screen came on once again, the two rows of yellow letters flickering for a full ten seconds before stopping, leaving a few people rather surprised by the names that emerged.
B: The second match-up is Izumi Hachiko and Akame Uchiha. Let’s go, ladies!
Minto: (His team standing just feet away from Naruto’s, he continued to stare at the monitor, intrigued by the utter coincidence of it all.) Two Uchiha in a row, huh? …How the heck’s that happen?
Suzaku: Hmhmhm, it’s a random choice, Minto. …Just a coincidence.
Not bothering with any goodbyes – or to take the stairs – Akame jumped over the railing and down to the floor below, prompting Izumi – whose team was on the other balcony – to do the same, refusing to allow her opponent to upstage her.
Kagetsu: You got this, Izumi!
Izumi: Bite me! Like I don’t already know that.
Kagetsu: (Jeez, she’s such a *****.)
The two kunoichi took their positions on either side of the proctor, Akame’s Sharingan already activated. Confident as ever, Izumi held out her thumb for everyone to see before sliding across her neck, an obvious death threat – though Akame remained unfazed.
B: All right, if both of y’all are ready, …begin!
Not wasting any time, Izumi drew her sword and dashed forward, intending to bring Akame down in one quick blow.
Izumi: You’re dead!
Much to her surprise, however, Akame had yet to move a muscle, though it didn’t stop her from continuing her assault. Everyone looked on as Izumi sliced through her opponent like bread, sending her crashing down to the floor in a pool of blood. Breathing heavily, Izumi looked back to confirm it, shocked that the match was over so quickly, only to throw her hands in the air seconds later.
Izumi: I did it! I freakin’ murdered that bi-
Before she could finish celebrating, Izumi fell to the ground unconscious, knocked out by a swift hit to the back of her neck by Akame, who appeared miraculously unharmed. Her Sharingan was blazing wildly, hinting that her apparent demise was nothing more than an elaborate genjutsu.
Akame: Hnh, too easy.
B: (Walking over to ensure Izumi was unconscious, he returned to his feet seconds later and gave the signal.) The winner is Akame Uchiha!
Seeing no point in sticking around, Akame returned to the higher levels – and her ecstatic younger brother.
Katsuto: Unbelievable, Sis! That crazy chick never even saw it coming!
Akame: (Arrogant as ever, she shrugged his appraisal off with a grunt and a smirk.) Hmph, of course she didn’t. …You can’t beat genjutsu cast by a Sharingan.
On the other side of the arena, Izumi’s teammates looked on as she was carried away on a stretcher.
Kagetsu: (Man, these Uchiha are strong. …Wonder how that red-haired one’s gonna do.)
Vito: Hehehh hehehh, oh man, hehehh hehehh, Izumi just got beat. Hehehh, Kagetsu? Hnhnhnhn, we’re still good, right? You and me are still-
Kagetsu: HOW THE HELL SHOULD I KNOW!!? We haven’t found out who our opponents are yet, you freakin’ lunatic! (Jeez, he’s such a freak. I hope he’s next to get carried out.)
B: All right then, guess we’ll get on with the next match!
Flashing letters appeared on the monitor for a third time, and everyone present quickly silenced to see who would be the next match-up. Once again, two random names appeared after several seconds, and once again, with their disclosure came surprise. This time, however, it was universal.
Kagetsu: Whoa, …what the hell’s up with that?
Tomoi: Does that say…guys, tell me I’m seein’ things here.
Sakebi: Well, uhhh…damn.
Z: Well, …we’d be lyin’ if we did, girl.
Kei: Man, that is weird.
Inase: Trippy.
Airon: (Wow…what do you make at that, Manako?)
Manako: (…You got me, Airon.)
Minto: So, do you mind explaining THAT?
Suzaku: Uhhh, it’s…it’s still just a coincidence. (Just a lot harder to believe now, that’s all.)
B: (Damn.) Uh, …the third round will be Katsuto Uchiha and Chan.
Can Chan prevent all three of Sasuke’s grandchildren from dominating the early matches!!?
