Why didn't he USE CHIDORI ON THE ROCK?!

They clearly make a MASSIVE explosion. You would thing the rest of the place would collapse into the tunnel right under.
That or Rin could have used her medical jutsu to keep him alive. What's the point of a Medical Chunnin who can only heal booboos and not um keep you alive a bit longer?

Substitutions have to be set up. They can't just turn into a log whenever they want.

If he had tried to break the boulder, it might've split clean in half and toppled onto Obito's good side anyway.

If someone says they're going to die, and you're surrounding by the enemy, it's best not to go wasting so much chakra which would lead to having insufficient chakra to face those enemies , and ending up with the entire team dead.

Feel the shape of the area above your eye and you'll notice the dip where the eye is sunk in.

Seriously though, Kakashi was freaked out, and the enemy was closing in. Even if he chidoried the giant rock it probably would have just made things worse and the other ninja would have used the opening to end Rin and/or kakshi. Minato would have arrived to find his students dead.

As for Rin not healing Obito, yes she is a chunin but she isn't Tsunade or Sakura the best healers in the Narutoverse. At best she was an above average med ninja. What made her special was she became a jin.

And all mighty Minato didn't think to tell kakashi to put his chakra into the kunai or something to alert Minato to come save them? it obviously sends him a message as soon as kakashi decided to use it.
