In the latest chapter black zetsu said only two people have AWAKENED the Rinnegan, Madara and the Sage.

The most interesting thing is that both had to awaken the eye-technique. The Sage wasn't born with it, but with the potential....Interesting if I do say so myself.

yes this chapter amazed me. so hagoromo was not born with godly power, he just went thru hard training.

well it would be strange if the sage would be born with rinnegan eyes as a baby =D he was born with it but awakened it later on just like uchihas with the rinnegan IMO

True but the problem is that obviously the sage didn't have a Sharingan at that point as that came later, so what? Did he just awaken the Rinnegan from base eyes or something?

i dont know man,i guess we will have to wait and see.there are many theories.he could have unlocked it after becoming a juubi jinchuuriki,maybe kaguya had the rinnegan after eating the fruit and sage got it afterwards and so on.

i think kaguya ate the fruit and gained a holy eye that is even greater than the rinnegan.it`s like rinnegan with sharingan spirals and byakugaan background....and each generation after her got a watered down version of the eye.sage got the rinnegan,his descendant a spiral eye,uchihas the sharingan and hyuugas the byakugaan

I've been said he had Sharingan at birth, then awakened Rinniegan. That also means the elder son never awakened Rinnegan with his Sharingan. Also that Sasuke has the potential to awaken one. I say this because it seems t flow through the Uchiha Clan, every Uchiha having the potential but just not strong enough.
