This is the start of a series of threads I'll be making, in which I'll compare the 'current generation' of Shinobi (essentially Naruto and Sasuke) to those of previous generations which will be divided between previous Kage and high- level Jounin because, let's be honest - if you took away their 'borrowed powers/handed powers' then they wouldn't stand up too well against these fantastic high-Jounin/Kage level fighters - who required very little if any powerups and can still hold their own among the best without them (e.g Itachi or Hashirama).

To get the ball rolling (I'll redo this thread with more scans and such when I've got the time.) I bring you this image of Obito "blitzing" Tobirama and Hashirama:

What we all already know is that Tobirama easily reacted to it, as well as seemingly Hashirama too, but if you look closely at the scan you can see both Hiruzen and Minato are both calm and able to keep up with them (I'll admit it's one thing following a fast target and another to actually react or "tag" said target, but it's a feat none the less.)

In direct contrast to this you can clearly see the shock in Naruto and Sasuke's faces, with Naruto making his surprise known.

What is apparent is that Obito was moving so fast not even his Sharingan could keep up. It's not the first time this has happened either.

I think from these two scans we can conclude that the Kage level fighters at least have superior reactions to the current gen, I'll investigate the high-Kage level fighters soon and re-make this thread [Kisame, Kakashi, etc.]

Some things come with experience and reaction (both facial and action based) is one of them, but power wise they can keep up. And the new generation fighting style is somewhat based on speed, which is something hiruzen and the sannins lack in high proportion, so the older guys fight based on their keen intuition and perception........ etc

I agree, the new generation hasn't fully matured.

On that last note though; Hiruzen is fast, faster than Sasuke.

I'd have to say that it could be mainly from being more battle hardened and experienced.

Hiruzen well his reaction wasn't shown.. but clearly he was yelling.

Minato was right beside Naruto and Sasuke. And he wasn't surprised.

Hiruzen was capable of following Obito the whole time.

the lil surprise lines are on all 3 of them, and then he does he lil "So fast.." surprised doesn't mean shocked, if thats what you think i'm trying to say.

But you further showed the difference between the generations even in the Hokages.

I'd think that is more correlated to battle experience than pure reaction ability. An Eien No Mangekyou user and a Kyuubi Chakra user shouldn't have problems reacting to high speeds (and we've seen Naruto outspeed V2 Ay). Their lack of experience put them in that position. Whereas the far more battle savvy past Hokage have been in these situations, and dodged/kept up accordingly.
