Who would this award go to? Now think about it, I'm not talking about who made the most off an album or who hit the charts. I'm talking who left a mark in your mind the most, and by that I mean consider the ENTIRE year.

I would go with J. Cole and/or Kendrick Lamar, I can't choose between which one, drake would definitely tie with j.cole if I had to put it in an order. With k dot being #1. To me Kendrick stayed consistent with top songs, then dropped control which caused a stir in the rap game *this haven't happened in years* and he killed the 2013 cypher. He won several rookie and rapper of the year awards too. HE did way more statistic wise but I'm not gonna go that deep into it lol. According to drake, Kendrick success this year means nothing, BUT what matter is if he stays this way every year. I believe drake is right but based on this year I would go with Kendrick Lamar

Honestly, I'm going with Drake. Drake had so many impressive features and dropped NWTS. That album was just beautiful! The man has been doing some good in the game! K. Dot did his shit as well but I just think Drake stood out more this year.

J. COLE was hot too! I had to edit to include that. But after BS I barely heard more from him.

Can't forget Yeezy with his Yeezus! Now everything about that album was pure genius. Especially during the tour.

yeah i feel you on that but drake had a silent year until the recent drop of his album, he even states in one of his songs that he was gone for the summer and stuff, he was working on his album, now he had a great album but that dropped in september, nice choice though, versace was killer:cool:

if we're going by who left a lasting memory, it's going to be between Kanye and Kendrick.

Kendrick because he's been getting hype from GKMC since the start of this year, and not to mention that control controversy, and last but not least his group TDE is slowly coming to the spotlight.

Kanye because although Yeezus was 50% ass 50% alright, he's been in the headlines nonstop this year.

Yeah, he was working on his album. But September would count for the year no? Drake's tracks off the album were excellent. So excellent that the Lightskin vs Darkskin thing jumped off. Lol

lmao #semi-darkskin, but yeah thats apart of the year, but thats 1/3 of it if you do the math, kendrick was in the light 24/7 throughout 2013 and kendrick has hype which drake lost years ago after he proved what he could do

if we go lyrically, then Marshall fuks the world, but remember he didn't drop his album til last month and only received hype when rap god was released, that's not the year though....he started getting in the spot light again this summer when he announced he finished his project

I would have said K. Dot but after the Control verse too many people went back at him hard body. King Los' shit was one of the best but I won't count that cause Los didn't really fire back.

Joel Ortiz, Joe Budden, and Joey Bada$$ had the best responses in actually coming at Kendrick. But Kendrick didn't really respond back when I believe he had to. To add on, Schoolboy Q and Kendrick denied talking about Drake in the cypher when we all know he was. So that really brought him down. TDE Doing their shit though.

i still have people telling me he wasn't mentioning drake in that cypher when it's pretty evident

And nothing's been the same since they dropped control, and tucked the sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes

Let's be honest here...if we're talkin about leaving mark this is Kendrick's title. He's rapper of the year, there really ain't much to debate about.

Good Kid M.A.A.D City already had his hype boosted, he put out a bunch of popular songs and had some good features, and of course Control and the cypher this year completely busted the limits of his hype for right now. Everything was timed so well it's hard to tell if all this was planned or not. Kendrick's running the game right now tbh and he's pulling TDE along with him. It just plain isn't debatable.

I wouldn't say they denied, cuz kendrick said rap is like basketball when you're on the court its blood but off the court everyone should be decent cuz its a game. I feel as if hes saying it up to people to determine the meaning of the lyrics. He wants to be cool with everyone while dissing but that doesn't work lmaoxd
