It's dependent on the situation. Sharingan Genjutsu is more suited for 1 on 1 battles whereas Sound Genjutsu is better for multiple opponents because it doesn't need to focus on a singular opponent. Sharingan Genjutsu is nigh impossible to break in a 1 on 1 unless you're a High Kage/Intelligent fighter (Oro/Minato) or you're an Uchiha/Perfect Jin. Sound Genjutsu however, is more unavoidable as the only way to counter it is with ear plugs, as sound can also travel into your body through your skin. Frog Song is most likely the superior Genjutsu overall to Tsukuyomi, but Tsukuyomi doesn't have prep time in comparison to Frog Song, but it trades the prep time, for being unavoidable.

Half true about the Sharingan, but yes not everyone has Temari wind power cause after she countered Tayuga genjutsu the wind killed her. I mention Danzo cause he is one of the best Futon users and he literally blows wind from his mouth which would be a similar counter to how Temari did it. Or a person could just cover there ears. =)

I'm going to make this as brief as possible. Sound Genjutsu does nothing to your senses, but "mediocre" paralysis. Basically, it prevents you from breaking the Jutsu. That's only a hypothesis. Being inside of a Sound Genjutsu still allows you to use your moves. It's like they're still in reality, but outside of it. Sharingan Genjutsu can make reality. Often times, they were completely aware of their surroundings. I'm too lazy to look for scans, but I'll tell you the scans to look for.

Example:
- Itachi and Sasuke was able to perform their Genjutsu.
- Shikamaru was able to perform his Shadow Jutsu to break his finger.
- Pain still had control of his other bodies.

Temari was able to blow the Sound Genjutsu away. If you had a move that could disrupt your chakra such Shikamaru's Shadow Jutsu, then you're still able break the jutsu.


Sharingan: Genjutsu is a bit different. Often times you won't even realize you're in a Genjutsu. Inside a Sharingan Genjutsu you don't have access to your moves, and allows you to control your opponent, your opponent senses, paralyze, or put to sleep. Downside it, breaking it is not impossible.


Overall, it all depends on the situation in which the jutsu is being used. Saying it's greater than Sharingan Genjutsu is stretching it.

Sound genjutsu is powerful and it's weakness is the time it takes to prepare or cast it while visual jutsus can be used more quickly. If I had to choose than I would want to be a genjutsu master via Sharingan but the sound genjutsu would be my weakness since it can take down Susanoo and paralyze me. Sound genjutsu is only good cuz its large area scale. It has way too many flaws. I can be prevented by blowing the air back, i assume huge katon expansion would work the same. It can be dispelled by causing pain as characters arent fully paralyzed (itachi n sasuke could move heads). It can be interrupted due to cast time. Plugging your ears should work as well. Other shinobies can much easily counter or escape sound then sharingan genjutsu.

Sound genjutsu works on vibrations, the water inside your body can paralyse you just as easily, covering your ears isn't doing anything aha :')

It's about efficiently and combat practicality.


In combat scenario's, a sound genjutsu overall is more efficient.


1. It's FAR harder to keep from hearing something than to keep from looking on one's eyes.

2. You can fight without look into someone's eyes. Simply follow their hands and legs (which is actually smarter in a fight anyhow. Comparatively, fighting with your ears covered is.far harder to do as you lose hearing (busting ear drums or earplugs...the latter being rather rare for shinobi...), and quite possibly you lose your hands. Though in honesty covering one's ears with hands hardly works.

3. Most of the more potent Sharingan Genjutsu causes blindness unless you procure and EMS. Meaning you actually have to watch a loved one die AND take a sibling's eyes in order to efficiently use it. Otherwise you slowly go blind.

4. Just because one can still use some techniques, some of those are limited, and only a slight few have jutsu that would work. If a jutsu restricts movement, then only people who have techs that operate when they are stationary can use them: Shikamaru, Gaara, and multiple Pain Paths are the only ones that come to mind.

5. The Frog genjutsu paralyzed movement as well as creates a visual illusion meaning it virtually did the effects of regular genjutsu or Sharingan genjutsu just from sound.

6. Sound Genjutsu can be used at longer ranges or effect people behind walls or trees.

7. A moment of paralysis is all that is needed. As simple kunai throws or a follow up jutsu/attack is all it takes to kill...no different than a Sharingan honestly.

8. Would it not also stand that a technique that disrupts chakra also stop Sharingan Genjutsu just as much as Sound Genjutsu.

The Sharingan genjutsu may have more long lasting effects, however the Sound Genjutsu is capable of halting an opponent's movements for just enough time to be defeated. Especially having limited numbers of jutsu that act without one's movement.

Sound needs a medium to travel on. That medium can be wind or water. Etc.
It's still better than sharingan genjutsu since sight isn't needed.

the problem with sound genjutsu its pre-time and the cast needs performing the jutsu for some time before the victims fall for it. in that time frame! =K.O! it wont have time to dodge the fire ball or stop trying the jutsu.
