[Discussion] US drone strike hits wedding convoy - killing 14, injuring 22

As an American citizen who loves my country and its people (if not always our government representatives) I am beyond furious about this incident, which by all rights should be an international disgrace. A couple days ago, a US drone aircraft targeted a convoy of 11 vehicles containing two newly-weds and their families and friends. This strike - which occurred in Yemen - was carried out on the basis of "suspected Al-Qaeda militants" in the convoy. Turns out, of course, there were no militants there. In addition, two of the killed were prominent and well-loved leaders in the Yemeni town of Radda.

"More than 50 (!) innocent civilians in our town have been killed by drones", said Abdullah al-Kabra, an eyewitness to the strike.

I have always been strongly opposed to drone anti-terrorist warfare. Blasting people out of the sky with giant robots gives off such an "evil empire" vibe that it comes as no shock to me anymore that much of the international community hates us. And MAYBE (shocker...) doing things like this contributes to the very instability that causes the terrorism that the United States is trying so ardently to fight.

I am drafting a letter to my local Congressman, and might start a petition to raise awareness about this. What's your guys opinion on this and other similar incidents. As always, I appreciate your comments; thanks! =D

i've never seen so much blindness in one post. if israel really controlled the media, the govermants and the corporations it wasn't in so much heat from the UN, europe and US. israel is in a really bad place regarding world relations, we literality had to beg and cry for the world to do something about iran's nuclear program and we barely got anything. the problem of the jews is that we think to highly of ourselves, like we are so smart and importent and required. but we don't control anyone, we can't even pressure anyone to do anything. we wish we controled the world media and govermants and corporations but we don't.

being against this is correct and right, but do you have any alternative? the US has to deal with terrorists somehow, do you have any other way that will wipe out terrorists without endangering innocent citizens and american soldiers?

unless you are willing to live with terrorists threatning you this isn't going to help much.

i just want to explain that zionism is being butchered today by some idiots in the israeli govermant. i'm all for zionism except for one thing, the location. israel could have avoided 90% of our wars in the past if we just settled in another land or settled for compromise. the zionist dream by hertzel and Rothschild was not to settle palestine, it was to create a country for jews where jews can feel safe. there is no other place in the world that i can go as a jewish person and feel safe, even in the united state if it will have to choose between americans and jewish living in america they will choose americans. because the united states is an american country, not a jewish one.

the zionist dream is a country, any country, where jews should feel safe and defended and where the army and govermant will be willing to fight and die to defend the jewish citizens, because there is no country like that in the world other then israel. the fact that some citizens of israel and espacilly the govermant think the zionist dream is to make israel "whole" is only for their own benefit. they will send soldiers to die to defend a stupid piece of land while endangering the citizens inside of israel. if i could leave israel and live in another place but with the same ideals and dreams of the zionists i would, but there is no such place. israel is sadly the only country where i can feel safe, and i'm not sure that will last forever by how the govermant runs the country.
