When Hashi impaled Madara, why didn't he just kill him when he had the chance?

When Hashi impaled Madara with his sword (ch. 626; also, my favorite Madara battle moment because he is nearly killed), why didn't he just kill him when he had the chance? Other then the obvious "We wouldn't have these type of plot twists" and the possible "I won't kill out of cold blood/kill a defenseless person", I don't know why he didn't.

At this moment my thought is that he somehow (ala danzou or something) used the other eye of the pare that he used as a spare for izanagi..

(maybe that spare eye was from his original pare.. cause he didn't go blind before he took izuna's eyes.)

he didn't have enough chakra to use just the sharingan at the time let alone izanagi

the real question is why hashirama didnt take madaras eyes. he had enough reason to believethatmadara was dead,but even ifmadarareally wasdead, those eyes wereextremely dangerous and hashi knew that, yet left the eyes in the body that he left behind for anybody to take. not to mention, he knew about the possiblity of revival thanks to his brother creating edo tensei.

He thought he had already killed him so for him to stab him again it would be like shooting a dead horse (from his perspective) and he clearly felt bad about killing him so he didn't.

We don't know what he did with Madara's corpse or when edo tensei was created so...
Maybe he did bury Madara and just assumed the eyes would decay. I mean taking a Uchiha's eyes is basically to disgrace them so I doubt he would want to trend in those waters with the Uchiha leader.
