That is true that after Kabuto had chopped Itachi in half it would have been over. But we also have to consider the fact that it wasn't a death match it was supposed to be a capture and control mission.

Things probably would have played out differently given the scenario they were in. I think Kabuto would have been able to beat Itachi though it's tough to say since Itachi used being an Edo to his advantage. Kabuto would beat alive Itachi though.

It would not go either way. Kabuto cut itachi in half and itachi was surprised. Either way itachi can't counter sound genjutsu alone.

I dont know about easily Itachi was edo id say kabuto wins 6 or even 7/10 but Itachi also has things up his sleeve plus Kabuto had prior knowledge plus a landscape advantage so you have to take that into account

the circumstances for the fight and the intentions of the combatants were all not for the kill except Kabuto really did want to kill Itachi (in a way) so he could take his mind & body back.

on another note, Itachi was only cut in half because he was protecting Sasuke and Kabuto pointed that out .

Itachi still overpowered Kabuto's sound genjutsu combination and protected Sasuke.

Itachi could've still beaten Kabuto on his own possibly.

Wrong, the wank is unreal. If he didn't go into sage mode, would could they do? Amateratsu < OR. Genjutsu < Snake sensing, Susano'o? Evasion with Suigetsu's water technique.

The thing is they attacked him before he went sage mode and miserably failed. Neither itachi nor sasuke can beat kabuto 1v1

The only thing that stopped Kabuto was izanami. which I believe only exists because it's the only way they could have beaten him and given a some what decent way to take him out. I feel like it was a cop out move.
