Lets assume that Orochimaru and Kabuto is dead and that Sasuke actually lost this battle and was taken back to the leaf. What would Naruto and the village actually have done? Selfishly keep him there, watched, against his will for the rest of his life? Sasuke at this point didn't even care about them, they were just pests getting in the way, he wanted Itachi.

What would they have done if they did "capture" Sasuke?

Nope, the thing was to "Change" Sasuke.... hence why Naruto changed the aim of his rasengan to Sasuke's headband. There is a reason why he talks all that much when facing Sasuke.

If Sasuke didn't care about them, he wouldn't have come. And also, they would've helped him kill Itachi, since he was after Naruto.

Nothing they would question him about orochimaru and ask if he was still after itachi. I think they would give him a squad and let him kill itachi considering sasuke could be viewed as a hero at that point for killing orochimaru.

The plot would have demanded that sasuke escape find itachi regardless. But I guess it could have been a very different story. Itachi wouldn't have had to draw oro out (since he wouldn't have been inside sasuke) so they may not have met up. Itachi potentially would have died and tobi may not have taken sasuke in.

Hmm it makes you wonder what would have actually happened. Maybe instead of pain itachi would have been forced to attempt to capture naruto ( like he was supposed to) and sasuke would have broken out of jail and met up with him then. Imagine if their fight went down in the middle of konoha.

Theyd help him kill Itachi, he would likely never find out the truth about Itachi, and everything would be happy happy. He woild probably hear the truth about Itachi eventually but not believe it. Then Itachis plan wouldve worked perfectly.
