Izanami if they can acknowledge the real results of their actions and in doing so, accept their fate. which means if they have already accepted their fate, they cannot be placed under izanami, and well basically, I think izanami would be ineffective against someone like madara.

Izanami is still a genjutsu that traps you in it for as long as possible till you accept your actions or figure out you're in a loop of genjutsu . Even if you only stay in Izanami for 1 or 2 seconds , Itachi could walk up to you and cut your head off.

He can if he doesn't die while he is trying to perform it. Its a loop of actions they perform together recorded by the sharingan. It still works as a genjutsu with or without the target accepting himself or not. Recently we've seen Minato having doubts about his past actions when it came to Obito and Naruto and Kushina and Rin's lives. But the key to releasing Izanami is to accept your reality, if you already accept reality, then you hold the key to the release, and therefore cannot be locked in it.

Itachi is stronger

He simply has a much wider & more versatile moveset & not only that but his speed is comparable to minato's base speed.

Not to mention sharingan precog which can track & predict the trajectory of the kunai that minato throws.

The only thing that minato has going for him is an s/t barrier but even then its a double edged sword because Itachi can easily utilize one of his genjutsu feints to trick minato into warping the wrong thing.
