[Theory] Mangekyo Sharingan Types

Sasuke's Mangekyo is called Choku Tomoe.

Sasuke's MS is a Choku Tomoe type. As for the straight swirl translation, I think it is referring to how Sasuke's MS has no rounded edges It's pattern is straight.

This may be too simple, but if there is more than one type let's say that maybe the other type is Rei Tomoe. Now let's say that's the type that Itachi had, so thinking this way Sasuke's EMS is a Choku Rei Type Tomoe.

: and it showed some kanji for Rei and the meanings. One of them means screw, twist, wrench or distort.

So I guess I see it like this:

Choku Tomoe = Straight Swirl
Rei Tomoe = Twisted Swirl

And I think the EMS needs to be a combination of the two, creating a Choku Rei Type Tomoe.

A Choku Rei Tomoe could have healing abilities or give a boost to chakra. The common meaning for Choku Rei is 'Place the power of the universe here' This is what it looks like:

Sasuke has his EMS activated when Madara said that to him so I think he was referring to his EMS even though in the scan he's says Mangekyou sharingan. Either that or Madara doesn't know it's a EMS and just assumes it's normal MS. Either way he's talking about what Sasuke has activated at that time which as we can all see is his EMS.

That's a fair point, but we really don't know how Madara is sensing Sasuke MS type. He could be reading his chakra signature to figure that out, which I don't think can change. Or it could be a simple trick like how Jiraiya told Naruto which direction his chakra rotates.

Maybe the Sharingan type is decided by chakra rotation. If you think about it the Sharingan spins, so maybe the spin is decided by your chakra rotation and that's how you know if you are Choku or Rei Tomoe.
