Black Zetsu was about to take Obito's Rinnegan to give to Madara.

Kakashi and Minato tried to attack him.

In an effort to save/defend himself, Black Zetsu latched onto Obito's body.

Black Zetsu now tends to use Obito's body to fight off Kakashi and Minato if need be.

As far as the flashbacks that Black Zetsu had go:

Black Zetsu was cut in half, but was only pretending to be defeated.

While he was lying there, he was having a conversation with Edo Madara, who told Black Zetsu to go where Obito was (which at that time he was dealing with Naruto and Killer Bee).

So while no one was looking, Black Zetsu slid underground and traveled to where Obito was and waited. You see the zetsu body chopped in half right? The lower half (legs) that had black zetsu on it is the part that went underground

Black zetsu is not human, he was defeated by chojiro, but was given the order to escape and reattach to obito, so he did. Now that Obito is dying and weak black zetsu plans on acting like a parasite to control Obito and fight to stall while Madara puts his plan in motion. Also without black zetsu Obito would be dead right now, but black zetsu wants the Rinnengan.

In short, Zetsu's only goal, reason to exist and plan was to make sure Obito revived Madara. Black Zetsu is Madara's will, in Zetsu's body.

If you need explaining in scans, Madara was talking to Zetsu telepathically. When Chõjuro cut down the Black Zetsu, he was unable to move. Madara was disappointed and facepalmed because of this fail and ordered him to go to Obito in order to help him and make sure that Madara was revived. He merged with the ground, and was waiting to attack Obito all the time. He was a backup plan in Madara's sleeve.

The first scan was about Zetsu trying to get Obito's Rinnegan, which originally belonged to Madara. Since Obito was to die anyway, it could've been harmful if he died doing a suicide attack at Madara. Minato stopped Zetsu, who then later fused with Obito due to the similar cells in him within. He stated to be a loyal servant of Madara, and will make any use of Obito in anyway he can in Madara's favor.

First Minato and Kakashi move to attack Zetsu; however, he takes over Obito... Using him as a hostage.



Then, Kakashi asks how he wasn't defeated. Zetsu flashbacks to his defeat via Chojiro.



When he comments "I can't move," we think he's speaking for himself, when he's really speaking to Madara. Madara then replies to Zetsu telling him to move under Obito. Being the Will of Madara... The two are linked.

Abandoning a portion of his existence (the top half on Chojiro), the lower part of Black Zetsu moves to the Obito battlefield.

Everyone already explained, but it's funny, Black Zetsu managed to latch onto Obito without the latter realizing it. Talk about stealth. Not even Naruto sensed him.
