And Kakuzu didn't even obtain Jiongu until after that battle, and pre-Jiongu Kakuzu would get pawned.

kakuzu didn't kill hashirama.
I think he fought him when they where dividing the bijuu amongst the 5 nations, and that's when takigakure got nanabi, kakuzu was one of the founding fathers of takigakure and i think kakuzu was the dude that was with the first mizukage at that meeting, the only assistent that didn't become 2nd kage.

No, Kakuza merely said that he fought with Hashirama, he never says he killed him. Its fairly often that ninja fightout without one dying. Chiyo fought against Tsunade several times, Hashirama fought Madara several times, Gai fought Kisame a few times and the list goes on.
