Tell me, do you ever "feel" the bonds between Naruto characters? Be it friendship/rivalry/teacher-student bonds. We know the manga is all about them, but how well does Kishi actually write them?

For example, the Naruto-Sasuke bond - I know many people, including myself, don't exactly sympathise with it. I can understand Naruto chasing after Sasuke with my mind because it is said in the story how he was his first friend, the first person to acknowledge him etc. But I just don't feel it. I just can't convince myself that Sasuke was worth so much of Naruto's time and effort, and nerves, too (remember the infamous hyperventilation?). I respect Kishi's writing and I don't hate either character but this part just doesn't resonate with me.

Same with Naruto-Jiraiya relationship. Yes, I felt sad when Naruto cried over J-man's death but their teacher-student bond developed mostly off-screen, again not enough for me to actually feel it.

But well, I'm not the kind of person to focus on such things in real life, too, but I know most people out there are better than I am in that regard, so my question is, which bonds between characters actually resonate with you?

If I had to answer that myself I'd say I felt the Guy-Lee moments in Part I were quite powerful (the surgery flashback). I can't really think of more right now, too tired Zzz

Respect for everyone, please! Keep in mind that I personally don't dislike any characters and I'm not bashing Kishi's writing. But we can all feel different things about the same subject, so just give your opinions.

Agreed about Sasuke/Naruto,it feels like the author shoves it down our throats for being this so amazing bond :|
The Jiraya/Naruto felt ok ,well i guess because Kishi didnt milk it :|

These are the best and most genuine ones for me:
I am simply asking what are the best written and truly geniune relationships in the manga in you opinion.
To me; these are on top:

Gai and Lee:

You must be registered for see images

They have something truly real going on between each other, the reasoing of "why" they are close is not even a question because their relationship is progressed and portrayted very well.

They have a good showcase of a parent/child love. We can see the concerns, teachings, decisions and break downs of their relationship and not a panel wasted in this including comedic relieves. They get together like how a parent and child does, a sense of "need" in a side's case. Lee needed someone to believe in himself and Gai wanted to believe in someone. He believes Lee like a parent does and does not lose faith in his "son" no matter what because of his efforts. Lee looks up to him as a father and master, also appreceates his acknowledgement. Gai teaching what he knows to Lee shows how a parent pours his/her life and hopes to his/her own child.

Their showcase of parent and child/master/son relationship seems bot not perfect and the most "pure" one in the series.

Ame orphans:

You must be registered for see images

They were 3 kids who get orphaned, need to grow up early and accomplished it together, both instinct of survival and needing someone brought them together. The way their ideals and hopes passed down to each other, the resolve poured down to one when the one of them goes down shows a shared ideal and genuine friendship.

Honorable mentions for:
Lee-Neji
Kakashi-Gai
Zabuza-Haku

Worst and forced one:
Naruto-Sasuke hands down

I understood the fact that at first he fought in Part I against Sasuke to bring him back, but the fact that he got a Kazekage as a friend, ten guys as friends and girls too, praised by the damn village as an hero, father is a Hokage, current Hokage loves him and even a girl to love him - but no.

Of course it has to be the damn Sasuke to do all those. Sasuke was right.

Naruto is a wide-eyed idiot.

Before Tobi took off his mask and revealed himself to be Obito, I always felt the strong bond between Kakashi and Obito had in the end during their flashback.

The most developed relationship is likely Maito Gai and Rock Lee. Or how you say... the one that you can "feel" the most.

The one that baffles me to this day... Obito's -immense- love for Rin. One could attribute it to Saauke and Naruto, but that relationship in itself is a mystery as you stated yourself...

I suppose relationships developed off-screen are still there and very much existing, just we don't feel them as much as Masashi makes the character feel them as we do not possess the knowledge of why such a relationship was developed between the two characters. Just because we do not "feel" them does not make their relationship less developed or less "real", but it is due to our lack of knowledge and possibly understanding that we do not "feel" them.

Yeah, forgot to mention this one... Kishi tried to explain it with "Uchiha special brain chakra", but I just can't bring myself to believe in "true love" between, well, children. Same for Sakura and Ino's "love" for Sasuke.

Naruto got so many friends and yet he followed Sasuke attempting to crush his ambitions.

Sasuke didn't do anything to jeopardize Naruto's dream(to be Hokage) while Naruto was trying to force his ass back into Konoha against his will.A true friend would never stop their friend from achieving their goals, Naruto bringing Sasuke to konaha would mess up his ambitions.

Not only did he do this in Part 1 but also Part 2 twice.IMO right now Sasuke is merely co-operating with Naruto, he sated that he couldn't care less about what his old classmates think of him.

Naruto-Sasuke bond is messed up and seems to be 100% one sided.

From my view most of the relationships are force.
Naruto and Jiraya relationship is base on giving naruto a power up of sage mode.Jiraya demonstration of sage mode in balttle help the viewer seen the capability of sage mode. After Jiraya purpose was finish Naruto got sage mode.
Naruto and Sasuke relationship is force because sasuke dont care about him completely and due to tnj from hashirama and itachi ,Sasuke magically become good and helping the shinobi allaince (who donot like him)
etc

The "bonds" in Naruto are absolute GARRRRRRBAAAAAGEEE. The only ones worth a damn are Naruto and Jiraya, Asuma and Shikamaru and Guy and Lee.

Kishi should take notes from the bonds in KHR or Hunter x Hunter. The feelings and interactions between the Vongola family are great. And in Hunter x Hunter that Gon & Killua bond is simply amazing..

My personally favorite is the Naruto and Jiraiya student-teacher bond. Honor, belief, the natural bond of teaching... there's a lot you can build off of it.

The Naruto and Sasuke bond is the only thing I have a problem with. I can't with all honesty say their bond is complete crap, I just feel like it had more potential and Kishi failed to deliver. Itachi-Sasuke and Jiraiya-Naruto are pretty well done. Not perfect but good enough. I feel Naruto's and Sasuke's bond should have been like Madara's and Hashirama's. When it comes to a friendship bond, HashiMads is the best in the series.

The Guy Lee bond was well written, I felt it more than anything else

I also sympathized with Obito's tragic death at the time I thought he died

Jiraiya-Naruto...I really felt it when J-man died for Naruto. But you're right, we only saw the strength of the bond when Jiraiya died. But I did feel it then.

I don't feel the Naruto Sasuke bond. Especially the hyper ventilation. I guess I don't believe spending ALL your time together quarreling can create a bond. Sometimes you have to do actual friendly things.

Or the Sasuke Itachi bond. I don't feel Itachi loved Sasuke that much..maybe its his cool attitude to Sasuke turning evil or how easily he could torment him and ignore him.

I think maybe its because some of the Naruto bonds are too...strange. The master student bond is easily relatable as its similar to a parent-child bond. But the whole rivalry bond is strange..it doesn't look like friendly competition since they're trying to kill each other. Only Hashi Madara's rivalry really made sense to me. And maybe Kakashi-Obito
.

I agree with this , however IMO the Ame Orphans have the best bond in the entire series . Team 7 are shit , nothing but forced garbage .
