We never really got a complete history lesson on Aizen's past and why and what were his purposes for obtaining the Hogyoku. I mean, we've gotten a few thing's mentioned here and there such as his relationship with the Soul King and what not but those only opened up more questions.

Who knows? Maybe Tito didn't think about it yet.
I bet he was a nerd, and then something happened making him evil.
He still solos tho.

I doubt if we'll ever get his backstory, we got his story when he was vice captain though and it looks interesting.:p

If I were to guess why he wanted the Hogyoku is because he wants to be a god. He definitely has a god complex, everything we've seen so far points to that.

I hope we find out about his back story in this final arc.

It's simple. Aizen was a normal shinighami. Then he became a powerful shinighami and researcher. Then he became too powerful and decided he should challenge the Soul King. Then he made a plan.
Everything after that is Aizen's plan. Everything :p

I refuse to believe his backstory is so simple that it was because he was 'too strong'.

Aizen appeared to have a strong hatred towards the Soul King; even referring to him as a 'thing', and believed the world wasn't the right way. He was also extremely obsessed with unifying the different species.

My belief is the Aizen simply believed in equality, he wanted everything in the world to be equal, meaning everything would have the same power he did. But when Ichigo surpassed him, he refused to believe that it was possible for greater power to still exist, fearing that eventually he'd be overpowered by everyone else. Ichigo was close to understanding him, but didn't completely. I believe Aizen hated the Soul King simply because he didn't believe in hierarchy, and to change it, he'd have have to destroy the Soul King so all things could crumble, and he could rebuild it. But subconsciously, the real way for Aizen to feel this equality, was for him to lose his power and simply go back to being among his fellow Shinigami.

If you can't keep up with what I'm saying, then 421 and 422 will be a good re-read.

I for one, am excited to learn more about Aizen.

Humph......IDK I would imagine that ever since his childhood Aizen was probably driven to surpass others, Aizen may have very well been a somewhat Decent person with emotions akin to those of Humanity but it would seem his desire to rise above the heavens drove him to view genuine care and compassion towards others as an impediment to his growth, given his unnaturally high intellect its also quite possible that he learned about the Soul Kings appearance through ancient data and books and he learned how to gain access to the squad zero domain through deductive reasoning , his need tp rise to the heights above those of a god could have also just been his superiority complex manisfesting itself to its maximum and when Ichigo surpassed that he broke down.
