[Discussion] My One Piece Read Through Thread

So basically I've decided to start reading through One Piece from chapter 1. I never REALLY followed the storyline back when it was on Toonami (those good ol days), I just watched it for the fighting. And my buds have been recommending it, so... yeah.

Read along with me! However I'm on chapter 47 right now. I'll be posting minor predictions and thoughts on different aspects of the story.

But right now I can say I think Usopp had the best intro. The others were good (and Sanji's right now is getting pretty exciting), but his was just really, really good. I love character intros Grin

And Sanji just agreed to cook for those guys and got punched. That was a bit surprising... and I'm having trouble reading how Luffy is reacting to that, he's always so stoic.

EDIT: And he just got blasted with a meatball. Wow.

-I really like Sanji's pirate group. They have a lot of personality and don't afraid of nothing.
-What's up with all of these Buggy the Clown covers? Are they supposed to be telling me something or is Buggy just that cool? And the Zeff guy just got a lot more interesting.
-New favorite character just switched to Zeff
-New favorite character just switched to Luffy
-New favorite character just switched back to Zeff again
-Their ship just got cut in half... wonder who's doing it.
-Yeah, the Hawk Eyed Man, I remember him from some YT videos but those seemed like it was waay later on in the series... so I'm going to predict that he attacks their ships, has some dialogue and somehow disappears again. I don't think the most renowned swordsman in the world is ready to be killed by Zoro just yet, that's too big of a feat and it hasn't even reached chapter 50.

And okay, back with updates.
-So that dude just picked up a boat? It's about time he does something impressive.
-Sanji has superman legs.
-I really love the cooking pirates... Their zeal is very admirable, and I like the pride they take in their restaurant and still fight even against the master of the East Blue. They're a great group, they are.
-And a new guy just popped up... Again?!
-AND THE DRAMA UNFOLDS
-Good gravy... Commander of the second division... Now we got 3 more of these guys to go through, since he has 5 total divisions iirc... And he doesn't even look cool tbh
-hmmmm... I know this is just a manga and logic should 100% apply... But it's kind of weird how he's grabbing his knife by the cutting part while another guy is pulling it by the handle... Not the smartest thing I've ever seen.
-Okay, it's about time Sanji starts getting some action, and its good
-Seeing as how it's obvious he's suppose to surpass Keffs feet of kicking through steel, he's about to kick the shield dude far away or something.
--Dang... I was expecting Luffy to do something tricky to dodge that flail... But he just tanked it. Good job Luffy.
-Wooow.. So he just flew into the dudes neck and made him hit his neck on the shield and bleed? That was actually a clever method of making him bleed.
-I wonder what Usopp would do in this situation to be helpful.

Just don't be that person who makes a thread every week cause they have the urge to update the forum of where they're currently at. Look, I'm happy you're enjoying the manga but we don't need you to make a thread were you're updating us were you're currently at. It can get very annoying as someone else is doing the same thing on the forum.

I rarely make threads and I don't make threads for every manga I read because I only read Naruto and 1 piece. I'm not disturbing anybody by making a new post every update, I'm editing my old one. Sorry if you dislike it.

And why would I make a thread for an update in a thread all about updates :| if you don't like this thread just ignore it dude :|

And I'm on chapter 62 now, left the updates for a while. Just some thoughts-

-Sanji... Is a walking tank. Not really in the aspect that he can take smashes to the skull that would crush trucks and still talk, but that he can keep standing up no matter what.
-It's also more enjoyable than Naruto in the aspect that its not so corny (Naruto as of now is still my no. 1, but I'm just saying it can be really corny sometimes).
-So... That Gin dude just revealed his 'Demon' persona. Reminds me of Zabuza.
-And he just broke down into tears of regret? What's next, Hidden Mist Jutsu?
-Surprising how Zeff is just standing on the sidelines.
-Calling it right now too, Zoro and Usopp are about to make a big intro sometimes soon... Or maybe not but I think they will
-And I can safely say now I greatly dislike Kreig, he's a punk and jerk

-So now Gin is about to get killed by Kreig because he can't be the weapon/soldier Kreig needs him to be. Yet, Gin is still loyal and protective of him. I'm sensing Zabuza and Haku fever.
-LUFFY YOU CAN BEAT THIS DON GUY!

That was pretty well done... But I've never been a big fan of anime, I'm a manga guy. I may pick it up later though, maybe...

-More updates. Luffy just used Gumo Gumo (right?) Bullet on the dude so I'm hoping he's dead now
-Nope... Still not dead yet...
-One thing I can say about One Piece for sure is that it's weird how EVERY hit that each person lands keeps making me think that was the final hit, mainly because of how climatic each attack is. Like that Gomu Bullet, I could've sworn that was it. But he tanked it again...
-And now he just suicide bombed the hold ship. Waiting to see how Luffy counters this.
-He jumped. Thought he was going to bounce all of them back at him at once.
-YES! HE'S DEAD! FOR SURE THIS TIME!

Once you'll read the manga, you probably will never watch the animated version then. My advice is to watch the episodes first.
