Okay so hiruzen was stated to be the strongest hokage right? Now it seems to be that hashirama has taken that title. Now if hiruzen was originally meant to be the strongest hokage, could this have meant that he was originally intended to be madara's rival? I mean, it's possible that kishimoto took away the "Strongest hokage in the history of the village" title from hiruzen and gave it to hashirama, as well as hiruzen's "possible" intended role to hashirama.

This is assuming that hiruzen's hype in this context is either too vague or no longer holds true.

I've reworded my first post so you can get a better understanding of it since my writing was pretty vague.

Anyway my post doesn't look at GOS. It only looks at hiruzen being known as the strongest hokage in the history of Konoha.

Anyways, Hiruzen was stated to be the strongest hokage in the history of the village back in part 1. Whether or not that still holds true is a different story but I'm not debating that as that is not the focus here. That obviously means > Hashirama by hype but he has no feats so you can't rank him above hashirama. Obviously GOS is a title you could give to anyone of any era but when it comes to "strongest hokage in the history of konoha" is a title you could only give to one unique character. My point is that if he had that hype before, it's possible that kishimoto was planning on making him madara's rival but later on, gave hashirama that hype to hashirama. Because hashirama has shown that he is probably the strongest hokage. GOS is a completely different story though and that's where your point comes in.

How do you figure? Old Hiruzen held his own against 1st Hokage and 2nd hokage as well as Orochimaru at the same time. Kishi pulls more Ret-Cons than Marvel. Hiruzen was said to be the strongest Hokage in the HISTORY of Konoha, that statement includes Hashirama but the drastic jump in power levels Kishi pulled from part 1 to 2 and not introducing Hashirama properly until part 2 made him need to escelate Hashirama's power above what he had already shown to be Hiruzen's power.

This is true. I saw the lost footage of Hashirama vs 12 year old hiruzen and hiruzen brought hashirama to his knees. Enma has a KKG that way more powerful than Mokuton. And we are gonna see if soon versus madara.
