after gaara loses shukaku can he use sand attacks

Ok so after the extraction of the ichibi no shukaku can gaara still use his sand attacks because basically all he does his sand techniques

Even after the extraction of the Ichibi, Gaara could use his absolute defence, and even went as far as using it as a shield against Amaterasu, used his sand attacks several times to fly, and also capture opponents such as Madara and could also create a sand pyramid around the target and sealing the target with sealing tags.

No Ichibi has a mind of his own meaning if someone attacks gaara then ichibi uses the sand gourd to protect gaara without gaara having to do anything. Now that Ichibi is gone Gaara has to do it himself..

Yes gaara can still use his sand but he doesn't have as much chakra nor is it as strong due to the fact that in part 1 it was the shukaku who was the one using the absolute defense and it was the shukakus chakra that was also mixed into the sand in gaara sword

I might be worth your time to read the chapters were gaara talks to his dad (sorry can't remember the actual issue numbers). It was explained that people just assumed that his auto shield was shukaku but this isn't the case. Shukaku was described as a malevolent sand spirit that had intense blood lust. The fact that gaara couldn't sleep meant that he was vulnerable to shukaku's influence and this influence manifested itself in the forms gaaras sand took (often resembling shukaku in some way) - thus people assumed the gaara's sand abilities originated from shukaku himself.

This was in fact false and it was later revealed that the source of the auto shield was his mothers will to love and always protect him. Gaara himself has a natural ability to manipulate minerals just like his father. It is highly likely that gaaras natural ability was the exact reason he was compatible with shukaku in the first place. Regardless even post extraction gaara has continued to advance his sand related abilities, with many NB members regarding his current form as much stronger then when he was a jinchuriki. So really you could say shukaku was a hinderance that impeded gaaras natural ability it manipulate sand ( similar to kurama disrupting narutos chakra control).

So at the end of the day gaaras sand abilities are his own, but were mistaken for shukaku's. With that said the absolute defense auto-shield isn't gaara it's his mothers will to protect him ( although he can take control of it if he chooses).

Just to explain about his dad lol he uses the magnet style (I think) and gold dust attacks, he never actually used sand, he just mixed his gold dust (using magnet release) into shukaku's sand to make it heavy thus stopping his rampages.

What is interesting and something I dont understand is that when actively manipulating gold dust gaaras dad displays the same characteristic dark rings around his eyes as gaara. It was assumed that gaaras rings are from lack of sleep but they still haven't disappeared since shukaku was extracted. This could suggest gaara has some sort of always active field that he taps into to manipulate the sand, but who knows.

But still 3 of the 5 kazekage have shown an ability to manipulate a form of earth mineral as the one sasori killed had iron sand. So it's not that surprising that gaara can do it too.....still not quite sure whether some form of magnet released is used though.

You know I never paid much attention to that, maybe because he was an edo it didn't register properly with me, I'd like to think Kishi will explain that.
