There's a chance he'll come back, if you look on Family Guy Wiki, there are some episodes with Brian's name in the title, like "Brian Griffin the Closer" or something like that and also there's an upcoming special, something about a Grimm stories satire, and in the promotional comic-con art, what looks like Brian is seen behind a tree.

But if they completely killed him off, that's some arbitrary sh*t right there :|
