if his own mother did that to him after he was born, are humans really that more horrible?

I watched a documentary of a lioness and one of her cubs got trampled by gazelle it's back legs were completely useless but it kept acting like a normal kitten she shed a tear picked up her other two cubs and left that one for the birds.

It says the baby elephant refused to be consoled by zookeepers for five hours. How do you know whether or not they tried consoling it with food? Do you? It doesn't say, so you can't know. So you can't say that's why it was crying.

Or it was hurt cuz a goddamn elephant tried to make it part of the ground.

Well humans have the reasoning power to know better and do a lot worse than this. So yes.

Wild animals don't have reasoning, they don't "think to themselves" or see themselves as an individuals.

They strictly act on instinct alone.

Yes they are in a sense. I've seen human mothers do far worst.

You're wrong in a sense. I've seen a news article of a baby falling into a gorilla exhibit. And guess what the gorilla's did.. They saved the baby and helped him get back up to his mother.

That's an instinctive reaction.

The gorilla didn't stop and think "hey I should save this baby", a baby fell and it picked it up automatically without thinking. Prime apes and Humans have very similar instinctive traits. I notice it everyday.

10/10 humans will pick up a baby that fell without thinking solely on instinct.
