Well in all honesty Madara used a handseal because he broke Edo Tensei the Jutsu. Hashirama only freed himself from Oros control....if Oro releases Edo Tensei Hashirama will disappear supposedly. On top of that Madara defied the release of Edo Tensei through sheer willpower. Nao.....I'm not Kishi so I cannot say who is stronger, but I know Hashirama didn't free himself from Edo Tensei. Just saying.....

Bro,the proof is obvious.madara casted a wood dragon that hashi uses to repress kurama's will,but couldn't even repress kuramas.
Hashi would have succeeded likle kurama said.
