Obito was quite optimistic about sending Sasuke to Five Kage Summit

Even Madara had to use his full power, according to his own words, to defeat the five (easy diff, but still full power).

Did Obito really expect Sasuke to be on Madara's level?

He just wanted Sasuke to weaken them, not defeat them. Sasuke just became too hot headed to finish the job. MS sasuke with Taka sasuke's mentality would have weakened them enough to be taken hostage by Obito.

Come to think of it, "Dead kage summit" sounds pretty epic, especially when you translate kage to English...

Maybe, but why would he want Sasuke to go blind? I understand that Sasuke could then take Itachi's eyes and be much more useful, but he could have done that before going blind.

Ye but Sasuke wanted to rely on his own power first,
But after the summit he realised he was a weaklin and needed the solo kings eyes, this was a benefit to Obito as he then had a stronger pawn/pet under his control.

Well, he never actually got his "ass kicked" by the Raikage. It was more or less an even fight that could possibly, due to fan speculation gone SLIGHTLY more in the Raikage's favor.

He also had to fight the Raikage's guards, who I'd say are more skilled than the two on Sasuke's team which puts him even more at a disadvantage.

Also, think about the order of who he fought. Obito could not have predicted the total outcome of sending Sasuke into the five Kage summit, nor can it be totally said that Obito knows ALL of the Kages abilities. After all, they are the Kages.

He severely damaged Raikage (still doesn't have his hand back does he?), he managed to hold of Gaara and Mei, and then killed Danzo (but he was healed at this point).

It really wasn't TERRIBLE, but yes, you are correct, he wasn't quite ready for that.

I think as he is now, going up against them, he would have put up a much better fight.

I imagine it there would have set up and strikes leaving the summit than in the middle with everyone around to defend.
