it was to explain that loss of love also helps in awaking the eyes if you have them inside you.............

Although both our theories are quite same though..

I beleive to awaken the sharingan and the rinnegan the requirements are quite same....

Loss of love or Life threatening situations. Madara awakened his rinnegan when he was about to die. (That can be also taken as Life threatening situation) Nagato showed his rinnegan after he lost his parents....
