Is genjustsu a one shot kill?

What is the weakness to genjutsu if a ninja has no genjutsu of there own, or has weaker genjutsu? Because every time i think of genjutsu, i feel likes its over powered. For example, Itachi has one of the strongest genjutsu in the Naruto Universe, hoe do weaker ninjas counter it? Does he just put them in a gen and kill them? What do you guys think?

You cannot counter genjutsu unless you have sharingan , or you can controll your chakra very well , and don't let the genjutsu user to change the flow of your chakra brain .

Genjutsus are pretty much OP techs, but there are ways to counter, for example disturbing regular chakra flow..:yeah:

Well , only Uchiha members can counter the genjutsu of Itachi , other than them... probably Minato ? Because he is known to control his chakra very well .

yall keep saying itachi's genjutsu can only be broken by an uchiha but thats not true...kakashi broke it in their second meeting and sakura broke naruto out of it and perfect jinchuriki can break out of it and when itachi put oro in a genjutsu oro realized it and was able to release it but itachi cut off one of oro's hand, so oro who is not an uchiha was capable breaking itachi's genjutsu

it comes down to skill in breaking genjutsu...! if you have absolute chakra control then you can break genjutsu according to manga and regarding itachi's case, itachi is too skilled in genjutsu so problem is that his opponents were never more skilled than him in genjutsu...! sasuke did broke his genjutsu and black zetsu even complimented sasuke's skill...! although i think it was intentional on itachi's side but still he broke genjutsu...! also don't look into eyes can be a good counter...! but if opponent is resisting genjutsu then caster can't do anything else either. he has to focus too so while under genjutsu you still have the chance and time to break it...!

sound genjutsu > eye genjutsu

that's debatable since sound genjutsu affects all but so does visual genjutsu only those who can block visual contact or their hearing are capable of being impervious to both and the only one shinobi who could do that was dsm kabuto and he was still put under a visual genjutsu without visual contact so i could argue visual genutsu is the strongest...sound genjutsu can be blocked out by simply wearing ear plugs like shikamaru did against edo tayuya, izanama is a visual genjutsu that can be affective even without visual contact there is no such equivalent sound genjutsu that can work the same way while not being heard
