I agree. Naruto is probably the greatest friend one can hope to have. Being better than Hashirama though? I don't think so. Hashirama did what he thought he had to do, and his friendship with Madara is the greatest bond I've seen in the series. They seemed like actual friends.

that's why Hashirama failed to ensure peace. He's suppose to be hokage, the one who makes people realize the dream. How can he preach about peace if he kills to get there? Hashirama's childhood was different where "survival of the strong" was the motto while Naruto was the dirt of Konoha in his childhood. Naruto could see the slightest of ray of light in the darkness as well.

Hashirama seems like he tried to see from Madaras prespective to understand him..but unlike Naruto seems Hashi was unable/tried to change Madara by his ideologies like Naruto did with Nagato and Obito.
