This should of been expected that Minato would not allow obito to die.

The reason why Minato stopped kakashi from killing obito was one simple reason,

For obito's development. Obito cannot be redeemed untill His Sensei minato forgives him. After all hes done, He's effected Minato the most. [Naruto already forgave him].

Minato saw deep inside obito's heart and he sympathizes for him compared to kakashi who didn't even know obito kinda turned sides now.

If kakashi felt obito's heart like everyone else did, He wouldn't of tried to kill obito.
