I'm going to break this down.

1] Samehada is a sensor [ ]

2] Sensors are able to distinguish whether they or someone else is under genjutsu or not [ ]-[ ]

3] On it's own, Samehada can sense/distinguish Kisame's sense of urgency without Kisame prompting it to do anything [ ]

4] Samehada transfers some of into Kisame to disturb his chakra flow thus breaking Kisame out of any genjutsu [Not including Tsukiyomi]

Furthermore, Itachi isn't by any means defeating Kisame 'easily' as you say. It will be with nothing short of high-difficulty for Itachi to bring someone as monstrous as Kisame down.

No. It was able to smell out Kisame's Chakra like a dog sniffs out food. That is all, no implication whether Samehada has the intellect to tell the difference between genjutsu and reality when it dosent even have a thought process.

Human sensors with intellect and knowledge on genjutsu can tell reality and genjutsu, not living swords who only act on instinct, not judgement.

Just because Samehada can sense if Kisame is in despair, dosent mean it will know exactly how to fix the problem.

Samehada can give chakra, as in replinish, this dosent auto mean that it disrupting chakra flow.

Itachi wins pretty easily. Sorry..

So many people underestimate Tsukiyomei.

It's over as soon as Kisame gets caught in it.

Besides, nothing's getting passed the Yata/Totsuka combo. It's only a fight if MS is restricted.

Last time.

Samehada has the 'intellect' and 'thought process' in order to distinguish who is wielding him. And when the wielder isn't who Samehada is loyal to, it has enough 'intellect' to break out of it's opponents grasp on it's very own and was able to swim back to Kisame [ -[ ] Notice in that last scan, Kisame mentions that Samehade acknowledges none but himself.

Samehada dodges Bee's attack on it's own [ ]

Samehada betrays the Kisame clone and becomes attached to Bee as it starts aiding him [ - ]

Samehada notices Bee's life-risking predicament and rushes to Bee's defense [ ]

Samehada mourns Kisames death [ ]

And there are even more examples demonstrating Samehadas intellect and judgement. Samehada only needs to recognize Kisames need of an aid [Which he has done numerous times] and pump chakra into Kisame as Samehada has shown to naturally do with Kisame and Bee. You can go ahead and continue with the grasping at straws, but all that is needed is for is affected by genjutsu in order to disrupt their chakra flow; and that is precisely what Samehada has shown to do. It doesn't matter whether Samehada is replenishing chakra or not. All chakra lays and flows inside the chakra system, and that is exactly where Samehada's chakra will be poured into when it tries to aid Kisame.

And if I really wanted to go there, I could easily debate on how Kisame can defeat Itachi; but seeing where this is going, it would be a complete waste of my time. Sorry. Read the manga.
