[Predictions] The Blackbeard Pirates are terrible villains

EDIT: I didn't word the title correctly, this thread is just me complaining about how dumb they look


There are a lot of cool bad guys in OP. Mihawk, Crocodile, Doflamingo, the admirals.

But then you get these guys:

Does anyone actually like these guys? BB, Shiryuu, and the sniper guy are okay; but the rest are just so ugly and stupid.

A dancer, a wrestler, a half dead guy on a horse, a hideous woman, an ugly drunk, the dumbest looking giant in the series, and that guy with horns.

When they first made their full appearance at Marineford I was so disappointed that these will be the main antagonists of the series. Aren't you supposed to like the bad guys or at least think they are cool? These are some of the worst character designs I've seen.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Not every character needs to have a badass look to garner lots of fanboys.
That crew is a true pirate crew and I hope we see some love between them similar to the relationship the Straw Hat pirates have with each other.

I highly doubt that last statement of yours, I am getting a feeling that all of them are pretty much selfish..
O.T.-Blackbeard is a simple villain, he doesn't need to look cool, the DF he has symbolizes that darkness->terror..

I guess pirates never meant to be good-looking in the first place. Someone with much power and charisma is sure to be pointed for high expectations. Either he's some epic cool anti-hero or villain.

Now looking at Blackbeard-Pirates, probably the crew-members that you would give them an OK for character design are Burgess and Shilliew. Burgess now looks like some strong old geezer. Kinda like Garp. Shilliew, just one thing bothers me a little bit. I wanna see his hair/head. There's something feels odd about Shilliew's head. It's just me.

I'm not saying they have to look cool, Just not completely ridiculous. With villains you should be able to take them somewhat seriously, or else you end up with people like Wapol.

i dont know, blackbeard pirates seem to get that luv to hate vibe from me.
I think Oda meant to draw them as crude,ugly,selfish to get people to hate them and because i hate them it seems that i can't wait for one of them to get whats coming to them. Anyways thats my opinion on the matter

I don't want Oda to make us completely hate the BB pirates sure BB captured Ace and killed WB but that's just how a pirate acts. I want the crew to be close so they don't just become totally hated villains. U_U

Misworded the title, its more of me just complaining about how dumb they look. And it actually does have something to do with it. Design is very important for characters, if Luffy looked like the drunk guy do you still think OP would be popular? If the admirals looked like these guys do you think people would still like them?

I want to see that with the pirate crew. BB gave Luffy an inspirational speech in the Skypiea arc showing that he does have his own dreams.

They are just fine the way they are and Luffy is supposed to be an energetic childminded like charecter so he cldnt b like Doc Q but give Doc Q Kizaru's df and have him do as if he's dying on his Horse only to sucker punch some pirate who thinks he's really dying, I wld b a heavy fanboy of that charecter. What im saying is design matches personality and BB personality is supossed to b ugly, chaotic, bizzer and wierd and i think their look forshadows a bit into who they are and how they wld react in some typical situations.
