I'm willing to trade you so you can GET a scizor. But i'm not just going to give you one. If you have a scyther with a metal coat though, that's a different story.

You get Metal Coat throughout the game, so I can trade you a Scyther if you don't have one so that you can give it Metal Coat then trade it back and then I'll trade back the Scizor. I do not have another Metal Coat and I've already trained my Scizor to 100 so I'm not gonna give it away.

Why did Gamefreak create such a system where you have to trade certain pokemon just to evolve it? What if you get scammed?

Originally, you had to trade with a link cable. So, it had to be with someone you know or at least acquainted with. you could just punch them if they didn't give it back.

I know its stupid especially for people who like to play alone most of the time.

LOL I wonder how many people got scammed before. The pokemon community doesn't seem that bad though from what I've seen.

Well, even trading online or in wonder trade, people usually give me Pokemon that are trade only evolve to fill up Pokedex. Or, I sometimes see people offer Scyther/Onyx holding Metal Coat. Sure, they offer rare Pokemon, or some that aren't available until PokeBank, but still.

Some people are jerks though. I saw some guy offering a shiny Ditto holding a Masterball and he wanted a Feebas for it.

you just choose one of your pokemon and it is traded with a random player for their pokemon, it's cool, instead of releasing pokemon you don't need or duplicates you can wondertrade them and you just might get something exciting or at least a pokemon you dont yet have
