What did they do with Madara's original eyes?

Couldn't they have given him to Izuna and just had them swap eyes, or would that nullify it? I see no reason that it would and I am curious if this is just poor thinking on Kishi's part of was it mentioned why they couldn't do it?

I have to agree. It was stated clearly in the Manga how to obtain MS and the advantages when it is obtain.

Madara's eyes were not "reusable" as they were "damage" from over-usage of his Mangekyou Sharingan abilities.

You have to go through a tramautic experience to gain the MS.
The MS loses its light so you must transfer the eyes of another.
The chakra is located in the brain (In scientific terms) and is powered through your spirtual energy.

The essence of both eyes culminate in the one pair of eyes creating the EMS.

You can't just switch eyes or you will just get the others dying light.

There is no short road to an EMS

They could not swap eyes. The EMS user does not take out their own eyes and replace them with the brother's. EMS is not a swap or a replacement. The EMS user actually fuses the two sets of eyes together in his own eye sockets.The two sets of eyes become one. Therefore Madara (and Sasuke) both still have their original eyes. They are not gone.
