Used it on him before giving him his eye/Dieing. So that he'd never become like Madara, but not changing him at all because he wanted to protect the village anyway.

I seriously see no point KA ing someone who already had a Hokage logic at an age of seven . Someone like him would really turn out like Madara ? I dont think so . Anyway , We are already shown Itachi's background .And Itachi is gone for the second time so I dont think what you said is even worth questioning .
