Alright, so Obito is basically like a pheonix in this manga. Everytime he gets kicked down and faced with unavoidable death, he manages to pull through and come back in full force. (Konan, Madara, and the Juubi) We also know that whenever Kishi emphasizes Obito is thinking of Rin, that means Obito is reminding himself to not give up.

This chapter ends with 3 important things to note:

1. Obito has realized it, but not accepted Naruto is the savior he wanted to be.

2. Obito once again seems outright defeated

3. Obito ends the chapter thinking of Rin

Personally, I don't think Obito's character will be resolved until he accepts that Naruto will carry on his original will, but in the correct way. And judging by these points presented in the chapter, Obito might not be willing to give up just yet.

So what do you think? Is this Obito's defeat, or are we about to see some Izanagi PNJ at work? =D

Madara will probably end up killing Obito himself. Then maybe absorbing his powers or something...

True, he can Kamui to Kakashi now if he needs to escape in his weak state. But, all of the red flags are there for Obito to make one of his signature comebacks, so I'm not counting him out just yet. He is definitely going to speak to Kakashi though I agree.

Perhaps Obito already activated Infinite Tsukuyomi and this is all an illusion on Naruto's part.
In all seriousness though, I suspect he'll side with the alliance when Madara's trump card comes into play, then somehow end up sacrificing himself to account for all the damage he has done over the years - especially if Madara was the reason behind Rin dying - and then meet Rin in the afterlife. At least, that's the way I'd like to see him go, I can't really picture him living a normal civilian life after the war.

I agree with the last part, I kinda hope he doesn't join the alliance, but he has to do something that resolves his current inner conflict. So no matter what, Obito's got at least a few chapters left. It'd be awesome if he got to see the real Rin when he died.

I think he's one of the best designed and one of the only multi-dimensional characters in Naruto. I hope he has some more plays! =D
