I think it is a horrible thing. If we break our ethics here, then we will only allow ourselves to push the limits on what actions we can justify in the name of the 'greater good.' Doing so might seem to help us in the short term, but in the long term, it damages our culture, integrity, and breeds a sociopathic government. When it is all said and done, will it have been worth it to break our values for our enemies because of fear?

If a country breaks its values like that, eventually it will not be left with any value.
