Only reason he was able to surpass Orochimaru was his cells, if it wasn't for that he wouldn't be relevant. He used Orochimaru studies to get that far. Orochimaru had years of research, Kabuto just added on. Orochimaru took Kabuto's knowledge added on to his own. So he's smarter(IMO).

Seriously?? Do you think Orochimaru would have been able to take on Kurama? If Orochimaru hadn't stolen all the scrolls and betrayed the hidden leaf village, he would be no where. What with his re animation jutsu that he stole from Tobirama??

Quick wittedness goes to Minato. Itachi and Hashirama slightly behind.
