I see and hear a lot of people rant about how the war needs more deaths. They say stuff like, "one death isn't a war". Now don't get me wrong. I like a balanced war as much as the next guy. However, I am going to review the allied forces' death toll.
The following people have died in the war:
1. Shikaku
2. Inoichi
3. Ao
4. Mabui
5. Neji
6. Yamato may or may not be saved. The same goes for Anko.
7. Many other random shinobi.
I know that none of you care about or even count number 7 (and perhaps you don't care about or count number 6 either). A lot of you only want named characters to die. This usually boils down to the Konoha 11 or anyone affiliated with them (ie. Sai, Kakashi, Tsunade, etc...) However, you have to remember a key fact though.
1. Only about 15 or so characters fit into this category. Therefore, a tiny number of deaths is actually a hefty amount when talking about a small group of people. Having said that, if Kishi gives us all of the deaths that you guys are always asking for, there will be no supporting characters left. It will just be Naruto, Sasuke and the villains. As I said before, I like a balanced war too. Tenten or Kiba could stand to die. Tsunade shouldn't have survived in my book. I still think that Kakashi will die at some point. However, unlike many of you, I don't want every single friend and acquaintance of Naruto's die.
You should also remember the genres of this series. Yes it is Shounen. Yes it is martial arts and action. However, if you look at any genre listing for Naruto, you will see comedy as one of the categories in addition to the other stuff. Having said that, where are we going to get comedic relief if we get all of the deaths that you guys want? Where are we going to get any lightheartedness? These moods are often initiated by Naruto's friends or Naruto's interactions with his friends.
Many of you guys however sound like you will go into a fit of rage if Naruto has a single friend left after this war! I can see it now:
Random friend: Hi Naruto
Reader: Noooooooooooooo!!!!!! He has a friend!!! How could Kishi do this? He ruined the series!!!! *Jumps out of a window*
The name of this war is the 4th great shinobi war! It is not the kill Naruto's friends war. In the American Revolution, did the British only shoot at George Washington's friends? No, they shot at everyone.
The icing on the cake however, is what I like to call: Hypocrisy with Neji's death. For as long as the war has been going on, people have been complaining that we need more deaths. We finally got one with Neji and...
Reader #1: Kishi should revive Neji.
Reader #2: Neji's death felt kind of pointless.
Reader #3: Noooo! He was my favorite character! Bring him back!
You get my point. This brings me to some questions: Exactly how many deaths do you people want, and if you get those deaths, are you going to suddenly want revivals? Why can't Naruto have living friends? Share your thoughts.
Ps. When I said "you guys" or "you people" I often meant the complainers, not everyone.
