No it's not a joke, the 500 error is an an error that means that it's on the server side, nothing that you can do about it. The monkey part is just some humor, but the error is real. Youtube's server encountered an error when retrieving the content you wanted, it wasn't sure why it got the error, only that it was a problem with the server. It will eventually be fixed.
