No, that's not like it. What I'm saying is that sometimes Naruto talks too much.

Naruto was wrong when he said he won't become like Obito, when in fact they already were alike. Their objectives are the same, their means are the different, but their esence are the same, and Naruto learned this 40+ chapters after he rushed to tell that he wouldn't become like Obito. They even share the same past.

My point being, Naruto "still has a big mouth". If he keeps this practice then he will end doing more and more contradictions like that one... his nindou will get weaker and weaker with time if he holds on this bad practice. So, before making promises without knowing, he should think a bit more.

What I wanted to state is that Naruto really retracted his words. It happens because sometimes he talks without knowledge.

Well... partial truth leads to some differences in knowing each other.

When Naruto understood Sasuke's actions after knowing Itachi's truth, he found himself in Sasuke's shoes but he decided to stay behind his words about bringing Sasuke back to Leaf.

Similarly, Obito's past was something that made Naruto think again about his own past but he's still tagging along with his dream without going back on his words. That is bringing Obito to senses.

Naruto didn't said that he could also turn himself the way Obito is now but he compared his childhood with his own childhood.

Obito, in 611, wasn't talking about the start .... instead he was talking about the end of the rope he reached. Whereas in 653, Naruto was talking about the start.

In 611, Naruto denied himself turning into another Obito.
In 653, Naruto accepted his childhood part similar to Obito.

it depends on which translation you are reading. the translations on manga panda are usually off a little. which cause the majority of these kinds of threads.

It was easy to tell because Obito didn't compared only Naruto but he compared every shinobi with the end he himself reached. So I can say Obito was talking about the current him in 611 and Naruto answer about himself bot becoming like Obito in the end.

In 653, Naruto compared their childhoods.

Naruto's statement was made before knowing anything about Obito which implies he didn't want to become someone who broke away from the Hokage goal, and he did not want go abandoning his allies. This is also a time Obito didn't acknowledge himself as Obito.


The new chapter implies the sense that Naruto was a lot like Obito as Obito (pre Rock Smash). Which annoys him because he knows he could have truly fallen too. But more so because someone before and very similar to him did fall.
