Very well, let's see if I remember it all!
You can take an abortion even before you realize you are pregnant (if you know you didn't have safe ***, it's presumed to be true) by taking prescription pills that either block sperm cells from fertilizing the egg (then it wouldn't be called abortions in the first place), keep the blastocyte (cells that form after fertilization) from growing, or both.
From here, the blastocyte is no more than just a bunch of cells clumped together. Not even as "lifelike" as tissue. A protozoa is more lifelike than a blastocyte.
So what if it progresses farther? This is where we take both Biology and Psychology into consideration. This is aconsiderably-tougher viewpoint, something that I don't fully commit to myself: It's still applicable to have an abortion. The brain, spinal cord, and heart do not fully develop until well after the second trimester (5-6 months). What does this mean? The embryo is not feeling and not conscious. It wouldn't be mentally-demoralizing to have an abortion at this stage.
So the psychological viewpoint of the previous paragraph. Are you considerably poor? Is your relationship in a fallout? Do you even have a relationship anymore (because potential fathers often run with their metaphorical tail between their legs because they don't want the responsibility)? Will you make your parents look after the child while you take a job/classes? Then you'd want to consider having an abortion anyway if you're still at this stage. Do you really want to bring a sentient being into a destabilizing, harsh life?
Then perform the abortion before the fetus develops nerve endings and consciousness.
Even though I support abortion, I support safe *** drastically more for the mental, emotional reasons the readers would likely understand. More biological aspects of it: having a successful abortion does not mean you're free from the warts dangling off your scrotum/labia because the both of you decided going in natural would be a better experience.
