yea,he chose to,because the alternative was either kushina would die or naruto would have died,as such,he HAD to sacrifice himself,it is the same with hiruzen,the same with gaara,the ame with tobirama. They lost their lives because they had something to protect. Whther he chose to or not dosent change the fact that he died,how he died however is another story.
